Stash is bringing the magic back to MMORPGs. Stash is more than just a game: it is a virtual community where your actions shape the world! Explore and immerse yourself in the massive realm of Primordiax. Enjoy turn based combat that rewards good strategy with tons of loot. Design, develop, and decorate a Base of Operations where you are liege lord and master. Be part of a vibrant online community 20 years in the making.
Stash is the graphical successor to Threshold RPG, our text based, role play required MUD still in operation after 19+ years (opened June 1996). Stash’s core features include:
- Turn based combat on a tactical grid.
- Housing as a core feature. Your Base of Operations (BOO) starts as a humble bedroll and can be built and customized into a mighty fortress where you stash your loot.
- Dungeons: Hand crafted as well as random, procedurally generated dungeons.
- Massive character customization via class, race, build, gear, cosmetics, costumes, pets, mounts, and more.
- Crafting: Use, sell, trade, or enter items into competitions.
- Exploration: A huge world for you to discover with hundreds of unique locations.
- Awesome world story with a unique twist. Players affect this story and the entire world profoundly.
- Clans: Join with friends and compete for dominance.
- Loot: Tons and tons of loot, and with rare exceptions we don’t do bind on pickup/equip.
- PvP: Optional group and solo PvP.
- Community: The most incredible thing about Frogdice and all of our games is the community. Our players are a major reason our games are so special and their passion and love for our game world is part of a sacred trust we cherish.
This is the second Kickstarter campaign for Stash. Its primary purpose is to bring more people into our community who may have missed the first campaign. That is why we call it "No Adventurer Left Behind."
There are many awesome things we can do with the funds from this campaign that would make Stash even better. We can support more full time artists, commission more professional music and soundscapes, and even add a few tools and features that are currently out of reach. We will discuss those in more detail throughout the campaign.
The most important purpose of this campaign is to get more people involved. Our backers will make up the core of our launch player base and we want that group to be as large and engaged as possible.
Frogdice is an indie game studio in Lexington, KY founded in 1996. With nearly 20 years of experience, we are one of the most accomplished developers of online RPGs/MMOs.
We have shipped 6 games including 2 online RPGs/MMOs. Our games are unique, engaging, and a lot of fun. We have attracted a dedicated and loyal fan base that has stayed with us for two decades.
We also have three successful Kickstarter campaigns under our belt:

- An early campaign for this game, Stash.
Our team has decades of experience completing and supporting our games to the delight of our community.
At launch, Stash will have the following primary classes:
- Warrior: Masters of arms and armor, these juggernauts of melee wade into battle without fear or hesitation. They control the flow of battle by taunting enemies, protecting allies, and sundering foes. Primary role: Tank + Damage.
- Healer: Adept at manipulating the energies of life, healers mend and buff their allies while mesmerizing and confusing their opponents. Primary role: Heal + Buff + Crowd Control.
- Elementalist: These magi manipulate the basic elements of the world in mystical and magical ways. Earth, air, fire, and water all answer to their call. Primary role: Damage + Crowd Control.
- Hunter: Agility, quick wits, and terrifying precision are the hallmarks of the hunter. In addition to their potent attacks, they have a diverse set of utility skills and the ability to confound and debuff their enemies. Primary role: Damage + Utility + Debuff.
We plan to add more classes post-launch. We have some of our own ideas (Bard, Alchemist, Paladin, Necromancer, Psion) and will listen to the community as well.
At launch, your character can be one of the following races:
- Human: Known for their versatility and adaptability, they populate all the regions of the world. Humans come in all shapes, colors, and forms.
- Dryad: A mysterious race of women, dryads hail from the ancient forests of the world. They carry the beauty of nature with them wherever they roam.
- Trulloc: With their stone-like skin, trullocs call the mountains and deepest regions of the world home. The texture of their skin reflects the variety of the earth.
- Lukoi: Much like their canine cousins, the lukoi exihibit a wide variety of appearances. They fight with determination, fierceness, loyalty and unbridled joy.
- Catfolk: Sleek and powerful, catfolk prowl the land seeking mystery and adventure. Their feline appearances span a range of color.
We plan to add more races post-launch. Other player races in the Primordiax world include: Dwarf, Kestrel, Leklek, Salamae, Scorpien, and Talayi.
Turn based, tactical, grid combat is a core feature of Stash. We took inspiration from classic Dungeons and Dragons tabletop gaming, Warhammer miniature gaming, the "Gold Box" AD&D video games, Baldur's Gate, Planescape: Torment, Temple of Elemental Evil, Bard's Tale, and a variety of other turn based RPGs we have played over the years. We combined that with two decades of experience developing video game combat systems. The result is a combat system that is approachable yet deep. The more you play, the more layers you will uncover.
You will strategically make use of class abilities, items, buffs, debuffs, crowd control, healing, movement, misdirection, taunts, traps, the environment, and more to maximize combat effectiveness.
Our combat is incredibly fun. Figuring out ways to lure monsters into choke points and cleverly utilize your abilities makes every battle different and exciting in its own ways.
Everybody loves loot. Stash has loot - and lots of it. Some of it will be incredibly useful, and some of it you'll toss in your junk trunk for fast and easy selling. You can use it yourself, trade it with other players, break it down for crafting, sell it on the market, sell it to NPCs, or stash it in your Base of Operations (BOO): more on that later!
Weapons, armor, clothing, jewelry, magical items, legendary items, crafting materials, collectibles, works of art, decorations, pets, and mounts are among the types of loot you will find.
Every player in the game has a Base of Operations. We call this your BOO. It starts off as a meager bedroll, but you can steadily upgrade it to a tent, a hut, a house, a mansion, all the way up to an impressive castle. You can decorate and design it both indoors and outdoors. The customization options are almost limitless.
Your BOO also serves as your stash. It is where you send back your treasures and show off your trophies. It is also where you build useable structures to craft or just entertain yourself (and your friends).
The BOO is one of the most important features of the game. It provides you with a tremendous creative opportunity while also being incredibly useful. We put a very high priority on this part of the game and it is something that will receive constant attention and expansion.
Stash is a multiplayer online game in a persistent world (MMORPG). You can group up with friends to adventure through the world, plunder dungeons, defeat bosses, or just be social. You can even battle other groups of adventurers in team based PvP.
Nearly every feature in Stash is designed in some way to promote co-op play or competition.
You can also play Stash solo whenever you prefer. We call this "playing alone, together" since you still benefit from the presence of other players even while soloing. You can trade with them, share buffs, or just socialize.
Stash has a huge, tile based world that you explore with your character figurine (we call it a “peg” for short) on the map. The world view is like a game board in tabletop or miniature gaming. This makes world travel faster, easier, less confusing, and more convenient. It is harder to get lost than in most MMOs.
As you explore the world you will find “Points of Interest.” These can be anything: dungeons, caves, mines, towers, fortresses, camps, etc. You can interact with a Point of Interest (POI) to enter it and explore in greater detail.
Dungeon is a term we use to refer to Points of Interest that have some type of adventure within. Dungeons are where you will find monsters, bosses, and all sorts of exciting and dangerous activities. There are two types of Dungeons:
Hand crafted: Locations we have designed by hand for a specific purpose. These dungeons generally have a lore or story reason for their existence.
Procedurally generated: Random locations with randomly generated maps, random encounters, random elemental affinities, and a random boss at the end. They provide infinite content variety and keep the world fresh and exciting.
At launch there are four crafting professions: Chef, Armorer, Weaponsmith, and Alchemist. More will be added over time.
Once you learn a profession from a Craftmaster in Askagard City, you build the proper structure in your BOO (stove, forge, workbench, etc.) and get to work! Crafting materials can be harvested in the world, created by breaking down items, or bought on the market.
The crafting process in Stash is its own special mini game that is far more interesting and fun than just clicking buttons and watching progress bars for hours on end. If you wish to create masterpiece items suitable for competition, your performance in those mini games determines how marvellous your creation is!
Once you get your start with some basic materials and structures in your BOO, you could theoretically never leave civilization. You could focus all your play on your BOO, crafting, and selling items on the market.
Clans are a social and political feature of Stash. Players can join together to form a Clan, establish themes of their choosing, and compete with other Clans for dominance. Your Clan will gain levels, power, abilities, renown, and perhaps infamy through your actions and dedication.
Player vs. Player (PvP) is another feature we have re-imagined in Stash. You can challenge another player or party to a duel or engage in a matchmade solo or group battle.
When you enter a PvP battle a snapshot is taken of your character. The rest of the PvP battle will continue with that snapshot version of your character. You can then choose to continue adventuring with your "real" character and find new loot, level up, etc. without affecting the PvP snapshot.
Clans can engage in wars that include many PvP battles and struggles for territory or objectives.
It is worth noting that PvP is 100% optional. It is there for people who dig that sort of thing.
Every major zone has an outpost that serves as a hub for adventuring in that region. This is where you can find vendors, transportation, and other services. Outposts can be taken over by clans or individuals and run as they see fit.
The ruler of the outpost sets policies, maintains vendors and services, and is responsible for its defense. They can also alter the appearance of the outpost. To thrive, the outpost must attract adventurers. In exchange for all this, the ruler earns rewards, coin, and fame.
Outposts always retain basic functionality for adventurers, and the major cities are run by the game. It is one of many ways players can have a real, meaningful impact on the world.
To show our appreciation for your generous support of Stash, we have some great rewards. Some are special in-game items, others provide ways to immortalize yourself in the game.
NOTE: All rewards where the backer designs or names something are subject to approval. It must be appropriate for the game and theme.
The Citizenship Package can be claimed by all of your characters. It includes a bundle of potions (including XP Boosts and Healing), a bundle of armor dyes, and a donkey which is explained more below. You also receive private forum access.
The donkey is a reliable pack animal that will loyally serve you. Pack animals are incredibly important and useful in Stash. While you are exploring and dungeon delving, you can send items and loot back to your BOO using these creatures. This can be done from almost anywhere in the game world.
Medallions are the virtual currency in Frogdice games. The Pay What You Want section explains them in detail. Kickstarter backers receive double the dollar value of their pledge in Medallions. For example: If you back at $15, you receive $30 worth of medallions. If you back at $50, you receive $100 worth of Medallions.
Head Start Days
When Stash is ready for public launch, backers will be able to create new characters before everyone else. The number of head start days you receive depends upon your tier.
BOO Interior Decorative Item
Our backer community will help us choose and design what type of decorative item this is. This item can be claimed by all of your characters.
The Founder's Package can be claimed by all of your characters. It includes a plaque mountable in their BOO that commemorates their status as a Founder of Stash. They also receive an additional potion bundle and armor dye bundle (with different colors than the Citizenship bundle they also receive). This package also includes:
This amazing and beautiful cloak can be claimed by all of your characters. We will design the look with input from the backer community. It will provide +20% to XP earning until the player is level 20. After that it is just awesome looking.
BOO Exterior Decorative Item
Our backer community will help us choose and design what type of decorative item this is. This item can be claimed by all of your characters.
All of your characters will receive a statue in their likeness they can use to decorate their BOO.
All of your characters will receive FROGGIE the pet. Froggie is highly collectible, cute, and many believe: good luck!
Claimable by all of your characters, the Ceremonial Weapon looks awesome and is useful at low levels. After that it is primarily for display or cosmetic slot use. The exact weapon type depends on your character class.
All your characters will receive Ceremonial Armor appropriate for their character class. It will be great for cosmetic purposes and will get the job done at low levels.
All your characters will recieve a ferociously cute and incredibly useful Korgan Mount. Korgans are a race of mighty and adorable creatures that happily serve adventurers as loyal mounts and companions. Like pack animals, mounts can transport loot back to your BOO from almost anywhere in the game world. They can also be ridden to speed up travel on the world map.
The Korgan mount is inspired by Frogdice's office mascot, the corgi Teppenheimer Wigglebottoms (or Tehpig for short).
Name an NPC
You get to name an NPC that will appear in Stash. This could be a shopkeeper, trainer, barkeep, or something of that sort.
Write a Book
Books are collectible items found in the game. Some provide interesting lore, others are designed for entertainment. Players can add them to a library in their BOO and read them at their leisure. This is a chance to write your own story that players will enjoy for many years to come.
Name a Dungeon
Choose the name of a dungeon that will appear somewhere in the game world. This could be a cave, tower, mine, temple, shrine, something similar, or an actual dungeon.
Reserve Your Clan Name and Design Your Clan Standard
Ensure your clan will ride to glory with the right name and the right insignia emblazoned on your flags, cloaks, and shields. Our plan is to release a clan standard design application you can experiment with before launch. In addition to saving clan name, your clan standard design can only be used by your clan.
Name a Boss
Most dungeons culminate in an exciting and rewarding boss battle. The first 10 backers to pledge this tier can name one of the bosses in Stash.
All your characters can claim this item. The mossy pouch goes in one of your bag slots and it grows with your character in storage capacity as your character grows in level. This is extremely handy!
Your Name in a Power
Add your name to a character class ability. Remember's Bigby's Clenched Fist? Mordenkainen's Faithful Hound? Their pre-internet fame will pale by comparison to you!
Design a Pet
Design your very own pet! Decide how rare it is for the rest of the game as well. All of your characters will receive this pet!
Design a Dungeon
Design the map type, theme, enemies, elemental affinity, boss, story, and other special features along with the Frogdice team. As always, when we say "dungeon" that could mean any type of location: cave, mine, temple, shrine, tower, ancient library, dungeon, etc.
Private Island for Your BOO
Your BOO will be located on a private island that can be reached from the normal BOO Point of Interest or docks around the game world. Your island can be explored in world map style with a special point of interest for your BOO.
Design a Power
Create your dream ability. Power's effects, visuals, and name. Game balance and appropriateness apply, of course!
For almost 20 years Frogdice has used some variation of this payment model. We feel subscriptions and box purchases make it harder for people to try our games or convince friends to join them. We want to make it easy for people to play Stash and enjoy playing it with all of their friends. Our philosophy has always been: "Make the game fun enough that people play long enough, and eventually the money will take care of itself."
Instead of a retail or box purchase, we have a Citizenship Package designed to be a high value equivalent. This package will cost $20-$30 at launch, and is included among other benefits at the $15 tier and above here.
We also have a virtual currency called Medallions that is used in Stash and other Frogdice games. Medallions can be used to purchase a wide variety of completely optional things. The Medallion shop is primarily for cosmetics, convenience, and customization. Anything that provides in-game power will also be obtainable by playing the game.
Examples of things you can buy with Medallions:
- Pets (that you can also get in game).
- Mounts (that you can also get in game).
- Cosmetic items for your costume slots.
- Temporary +% XP boost potions (saves time). Instant teleport consumable to your BOO (saves time).
- Decorative house items (that you can also get in game).
Things we don't do:
- Require purchases to continue character advancement.
- Create intentionally frustrating things you have to buy your way out of.
- Bait and switch tactics or things that trick you into spending Medallions.
Ultimately, this is a matter of trust between developer and player. Our 20 year history of using this type of model ethically and responsibly shows we do it the right way.

Risks and challenges
As with any video game project, there is the potential of unforseen challenges and delays. This risk is greatly reduced by the fact that our team has been making games for 20 years. Further, since this is our fourth Kickstarter campaign, we have a proven track record of delivering quality games on time.
This is an MMORPG, however, and the possibility of unforseen challenges in server development exist.
