About

Freedom Closet is dedicated to promoting minimal, creative and productive lifestyles — maximizing free time and mental space to solve big problems. Freedom Tee’s technologically advanced copper-infused material allows you to wear the shirt for many days without washing. This conserves time, money and resources for you and fosters environmental sustainability.
Freedom Tee is made in the technological hub, South Korea, by textile masters with decades of experience and a passion for perfection. Freedom Closet maintains a close relationship with manufacturers to ensure our visions align and the product fulfills our mission.

When you wear a Freedom Tee, you'll be fresh all day, and the next day. And, the next. The copper-infused fabric fights bacteria while you live your life to the fullest. These bacteria often result in odor. You can avoid the dreaded B.O. with this shirt embedded with cutting-edge technologies.

Freedom Tee is stylish and minimal. It will save you time and money. You won't need as many shirts. You won't need to wash them as often. You won't need to decide what to wear. It makes life easier.

There is ancient wisdom in the use of copper. Copper has a long history of being utilized for its antimicrobial properties. Ancient Egyptians, Greeks, and Romans used copper in medical applications to help sterilize wounds. India's ancient system of medicine, Ayurveda, recommended the use of copper containers to store water. Koreans also historically have used copper alloy tableware, for its sterilization function and health benefits.

Modern scientific studies confirm the wisdom in the ancient use of copper. Studies demonstrate copper's effectiveness in killing bacteria on high-touch surfaces – it kills over 99.9% of harmful bacteria. This has resulted in a wider use of copper, including hospital surfaces and bacteria-resistant garments for astronauts.

Copper embedded in Freedom Tee has antibacterial properties providing a natural and effective way of killing bacteria. Laboratory testing concluded Freedom Tee’s material killed 99.9% of bacteria that grow on clothes.

You might wonder, considering the use of copper in the material, if Freedom Tee is still comfortable. Our proprietary, advanced technology infuses the thread with copper making the fabric indistinguishable from pure cotton fabric. Freedom Tee feels as good as any other premium cotton t-shirt with the added benefit of staying fresh. You'll be so amazed by the luxuriously soft touch that you won't want to take it off.

When you travel with Freedom Tees you don't need to pack your suitcase full of shirts for each day. Cutting down on luggage increases mobility and lets you be spontaneous by decreasing the time and energy you use packing and carrying those heavy bags. If you're flying, just take a carry-on instead of checked luggage. One of the many ways Freedom Tee frees you.

The fashion industry makes a huge impact on the environment and working standards in many of the world's biggest textile producing countries are deplorable. Further, doing laundry requires a great deal of energy and uses detergents that often contaminate groundwater. Freedom Tees are produced in South Korea by master craftspeople. These artisans receive fair wages and work in good conditions. This atmosphere contributes to their commitment to quality products that you can wear for a long time, which will result in less landfill of fashion waste.

For now, Freedom Tees come in 3 colors: Sand Heather, Gray, and Black and are available in size S-XL for men and women respectively.
Some colors – like pure white - requires a lot of harsh chemicals to bleach or dye the fabric. We developed the most basic staple colors while trying to A. avoid using harsh chemicals, and B. keep the high copper content for optimal effectiveness. For these two reasons, the lightest color of Freedom Tee is Sand Heather - natural cotton with the shade copper yarn. Gray also has a slight heather shade, and our Black is off-black.

Both men’s and women’s Freedom Tees have comfortable standard-relaxed fit, rather than slim-tight fit. Men’s shirts are typical round neck t-shirts. Women’s are slightly scoop/boat neck so they can be dressed up or down – from work outfit with dress pants or skirts to casual looks with jeans or shorts!

Just choose how many Freedom Tee you want. You'll receive a survey to choose the size and color AFTER the campaign ends, not right now. You can also add FreeBelts - buckle-free belts to make your life easier - at a Kickstarter special discounted price. Add the amount written in the rewards when you pledge!
Below is the Kickstarter price for each product. Pledge as many as you want!

How to add products to your pledge:
1. Click the green ‘Back this project’ button on the top right (‘Manage your pledge’ if you already pledged).
2. In the ‘Pledge amount’ box, increase the number by the total of the products you want.
3. In the survey after the campaign, tell us how you’d like your pledge and add-ons.

To make sure it works, we put our Freedom Tee samples through some intense testing. Some of the things we did (and didn’t wash the tee afterward):
● Wore it every day for 30 days, even to bed some nights.
● Did 2 hot yoga sessions and got it ‘soaking’ wet (then just air-dried it).
● Then, without washing it, went to sit in the hottest sauna room in a Korean spa.
● Travel around Asia in the hot humid summer days.
● Biking around NYC on a record hot day (See our video!)
And more.
Please note Freedom Tee is a cotton t-shirt for daily wear, NOT a workout gear. We did this to see if the product will hold up well even in the extreme situations (and it did!) but intense workouts and saunas are not the main use of the product intended.
We did all this and deliberately didn’t wash the shirt, but whenever it’s wet we did hang it to air and dry it. Even after getting soaking wet in sweat, it didn’t smell once it’s dry! But, we know we can be a little biased about our product :), so we gave it to beta testers for some honest feedback!

Freedom Closet consists of team members based in New York and Seoul. Living in the world’s busiest, bustling cities, we know about trying to find peace and stay focused amid a myriad of distractions in modern society. Our mission is to create wardrobe basics that inspire minimal and productive lifestyles and encourage sustainability.

Risks and challenges
Producing innovative textile t-shirts and fulfilling high numbers of orders are a challenge, however, that’s why we have the best team possible. Freedom Tee is not our first crowdfunded product. We already have manufacturing and distribution network in place!
● We have an all-star team that produces large quantities of t-shirts and are thrilled to be delivering on Freedom Tees orders.
● We are using tried and true materials that our manufacturers are primed to produce.
● We have experience leading production of a new product and seeing that orders are filled on time.
● We depend on true craftspeople with decades of textile conception, development, and manufacturing experience.
● We’ve factored in potential delays for production so that we’re already prepared for any snags that may arise.
In short, we’re prepared and have tremendous confidence in our ability to overcome potential risks and challenges.
Freedom Closet has a track record in crowdfunding and launching a fashion item successfully. Our debut product FreeBelts campaign went splendidly well, and we shipped the rewards to the backers all around the world (pretty much) on time! FreeBelts are now on the market boasting over 1,000 Amazon reviews!
With our past experience, we know what we’re capable of and have chosen the right team to execute production, fulfilling all orders. Complications happen but we know how to figure out and solve the problem when that happens. Our primary modes of mitigating risk are realistic, responsible production; and, communicating with our manufacturing team as well as our customers— making sure everyone knows what to expect and when.
