Third Stretch Goal (support for future Frankenspiel subwoofer)

Posted by Frankenspiel Ltd. (Creator)

Hi guys!

Here’s our 3rd stretch goal!

At the moment the user experience of the FS-X consists of either a single speaker or a (stereo) pair.

But later this year we’re planning to introduce a miniature subwoofer.

If we reach the amount of £76.000 in this project we will add provision for the FS-X to work with a future Frankenspiel subwoofer.

Subject to reaching this third stretch goal we will ensure that all backers who have pledged for an FS-X will have the capability built in to their FS-X(s) to form a 2.1 system i.e. 2 stereo FS-Xs with subwoofer.

We have less than 48 hours left of this campaign, so please help us get to this third stretch goal, by getting the word out to family, friends and/or colleagues!

Support us by going to our Thunderclap page (before 10am, Sunday 4th May) and sharing our message on Facebook, Twitter, and/or Tumblr:

Or join us on social media:,

Once again, thanks for all your support and feedback, together we can make this happen.

Best regards,

The Frankenspiel Team

@ Marsha Tyszler: Thank you for all your contributions and these ideas. Indeed one of the missions of Frankenspiel is the idea of a family of small products which meet all the requirements for a modern sound system. Glad you like this idea.

@ Yun Ki Lee: When we release the subwoofer the FS-X will not be superceded by a new product. The subwoofer is meant to compliment the FS-X.

@ bsl100 & Steven Rowe: Thanks for your comments!

@ Lee Gibson: As commented on the comment page: To make an optimal design and system we need to take account of the subwoofer. At this moment in time the design goal of the subwoofer will be to work wired and via Bluetooth with a pair of FS-Xs. The subwoofer will have it’s own battery. At this time in advance of launching the subwoofer we’re not able to give detailed spec, timing, price and other launch information. And for now we need to concentrate on the FS-X and it’s production.

This is such an amazing announcement! Although I'm almost 33, I have very eclectic tastes in music and enjoy genres from all walks of life. Yet, no matter what I'm listening to, I enjoy the richness of bass-filled sound.

A subwoofer would be such a welcome addition and puts the FS-X even further above its competition! Like its sister-speakers, I hope you'll make extras available like a case, cables, etc. I also hope you'll pre-announce the campaign to your backers first so that we can be prepared! Any idea around when you'll embark on this project?

Likewise, do you think there are possibilities for adding other types of speakers and components to the FS-X family?! (surround!!)

For me, this will be a wonderful addition to my small bedroom. I cannot afford a huge sound system (plus, it would be overpowering in a teeny room), so it seems the Frankenspiel could build a wonderful family of wireless speakers that would replicate the components of larger speaker systems, yet be perfect for providing quality sound in a teeny room!

Being able to purchase the sub later this year as an add on would be fantastic!!

So later in the year, will you be just releasing a subwoofer or a brand new set of speakers as well? I would feel disappointed if my two new speakers from this campaign are superseded by new speakers so quickly. I would consider buying the subwoofer as a standalone afterwards if my 2 speakers could work with them.

If the sub is wireless, then its a fantastci goal.

What does it need to add a subwoofer in? Surely within bluetooth you just add in the extra speaker and if it's wired then surely the subwoofer would feed into the speakers?

Personally I'm not quite as bothered about this stretch goal. The Minirig has something similar and the battery life for their subwoofer is 5 to 8 hours.
