September 2016 Shipment

Hello everyone,

We recognise that from an outsider's point of view, our recent updates come across slightly mad. We appreciate that you may find what we are doing hard to understand, but there is method to our madness.

Our dream some years ago was to develop an advanced platform for music technology. A range of outstanding products in a modular sound system. Products that interact with each other and expand the possibilities in the way we listen to and experience sound. We did not set out to deliver one, orphaned product.

We know that our delays have damaged our credibility but we have had little choice. It is either innovate and succeed to bring out multiple products in one intelligent system, or fall at the first hurdle, release the FS-X as it is and declare this project a failure. This we must not do.

We are doing everything we can to ensure you receive the best possible product that will be able to withstand the test of time. We feel indebted to your ongoing support and we want to prove to you that we can deliver what we have promised and more. The future of our company depends on this project.

Following from our last update, we can confirm we are still on target for a September 2016 shipment.

In the meantime, we would like to clarify a few things and clear up any FAQs.

“Why are we not delivering the same FS-Xs that we sent in the first batch?”

We have always promised that the FS-X would not be an orphan product. If we release the FS-X without updating to our new OS, you will get left behind. It is paramount that we deliver not just an outstanding product but one that will be compatible with our forthcoming OS and products launching towards the end of this year.

"What about those in the first batch?"

At the appropriate time, we will recall the first batch with prepaid couriers to offer a free upgrade to our new system; a system built for the future that won’t get left behind.

What we offer is a dramatic improvement to achieve a social and better connected world. You will have access to advanced, compatible HiFi with improved hardware and your rewards will harness intelligent software removing barriers in many real-life situations.

"What next?"

While we have experienced excessive delays and issues with our partners, it has given us time to do what we do best; develop and design outstanding music technology. This continued research and development effort has led to a series of new products with a new and improved operating system, dramatically improving the listening experience.

If you have already received your rewards in the first batch, we and other backers would really appreciate your feedback. Please let us know how you are getting on!

If you have not yet received your rewards and would like to change your address, please do so now. If you have lost your survey or you would like to view your current details please go to https://frankenspielfs-x.backerkit.com/. You can view your current details by logging into your BackerKit profile. If you cannot remember your password, please request a new survey using your Kickstarter email address or select ‘Forgot your password?’ on the login page.

Your next update will be no later than 4 weeks from now, Wednesday 14th September. However, we will update you beforehand if delivery is approaching.

All the best,

The Frankenspiel Team

      Marcus - Kickstarter would have disappeared years ago if they were in any way liable for the failures of their creators or a scam, I am sure many backers will have tried that tack and failed. This project is a corker though, its almost worth the money to get these amusing and hollow updates and to read all the comments that follow. It would be a shame if they just stopped - unless by some miracle David manages to actually ship something to his backers. And if he does, I wouldn't be surprised that like many other projects I have backed, what arrives never really meets the original hype and promise. But a speaker with an 'operating system'? Now that is a new one on me.

    2. Marcus Sundman on

      Tyler, I'm in. But I think Kickstarter should be sued and not only David (aka "the frankenspiel team"). Kickstarter does NOTHING when creators fail to meet their obligations. Kickstarter just takes its share of the money and then ignores the backers. This whole platform is a huge scam!

      From the Kickstarter terms:
      If a creator is unable to complete their project and fulfill rewards, they’ve failed to live up to the basic obligations of this agreement. To right this, they must make every reasonable effort to find another way of bringing the project to the best possible conclusion for backers. A creator in this position has only remedied the situation and met their obligations to backers if:
      they post an update that explains what work has been done, how funds were used, and what prevents them from finishing the project as planned;
      they work diligently and in good faith to bring the project to the best possible conclusion in a timeframe that’s communicated to backers;
      they’re able to demonstrate that they’ve used funds appropriately and made every reasonable effort to complete the project as promised;
      they’ve been honest, and have made no material misrepresentations in their communication to backers; and
      they offer to return any remaining funds to backers who have not received their reward (in proportion to the amounts pledged), or else explain how those funds will be used to complete the project in some alternate form.
      The creator is solely responsible for fulfilling the promises made in their project. If they’re unable to satisfy the terms of this agreement, they may be subject to legal action by backers.

      So... Who's in for a class action?

      My investment is gone, but thanks for giving funny and entertaining update once every month to us.

      If this update were on the level, we'd have tons of photos of everything.

      What I love the most about this update is the comments--lot of you guys are funnier than anything on Saturday Night Live...but also that ain't saying much these days.

      But truly it's lack of detail and photo that outrage so many and NOT primarily one of delay.

      Yet it also remains perplexing, vexing, and even strange that this zombie project still walks. It ain't breathing but it still moves! Every other project that travels in the outer rim of our solar system is completely dead. Finally then Frankenspiel is a master and gem of a communicator!

      Dave? What are you doing Dave? I don't think you should be doing that Dave. I really believe I can finish the mission. Dave?

      Yea? Well how long a wait? You make 2001 A Space Odyssey seem like a movie short. Hal is watching you.

    6. Sami Kuhmonen on

      @Jason Emery
      No, they should just come clean and say nobody gets anything. That would make it stop. At least I'm not passionate, I just want to see this end. And the only way for it to end is either ship now or say it was a scam or a failure.

      But since they keep on bullshitting us, we keep on reporting to Kickstarter (which for some reason doesn't care) and telling the "creators" how we feel.

      "What we offer is a dramatic improvement to achieve a social and better connected world. You will have access to advanced, compatible HiFi with improved hardware and your rewards will harness intelligent software removing barriers in many real-life situations."

      Seems great, I don't know what it means though. Are they still talking about a bluetooth speaker ?

    8. Jay on

      I'm amazed people are so passionate that they vent continued frustration in the comments after 2 years. Your investment has been invested, and is now gone. I realize it's hard after having been jerked around for so long but the reality is we should be thankful there's even still communication at all. There's nothing any of us can do.

    9. Frederic Detienne on

      I like this update. You named the elephant in the room.

      I am not happy about the lack of delivery but I am not angry about you when you do not try to pretend everything is all right.

      I am amazed you could survive so long despite a recall and all those issues.

      After so much time, I felt my speakers were lost anyway so I wish you good luck and hope your company strives. You have all my sympathy.

      Please do not take forever... :-)

      We asked MULTIPLE times for pictures, why are there NO pictures whatsoever!? Because you're playing with us! This must be some kind of experiment about how long you can bullshit people before they let it go...

      Agreeing with the others. No need to future proof as I will not buy from Frankespiel again. I got myself a UE Megaboom and it is amazing. I can not see FS outperforming it. Also 2 day delivery was nice vs. the 3 -? year delivery here. Check out the UE miniboom for those still in the market. similar size, price, and on Amazon prime. Excellent sound.

    13. Che4ter on

      I don't want a "smart" speaker, just a regular bluetooth speaker with a great sound.
      "will have access to advanced, compatible HiFi with improved hardware and your rewards will harness intelligent software " you still speak about a bluetooth speaker? Intelligent software^^

    14. Lee Gibson on

      There is nothing I need to add here, their credibility is currently in tatters.

      It is about time kickstarter did something instead of ignoring the situation.

    15. Jay on

      "We recognise that from an outsider's point of view, our recent updates..."

      Wait, am I hallucinating or did they really say UPDATES? In plural form? I think the lack thereof is the source of this madness. I'm not even sure you can call this an update. This is really just repeating yourselves over and over again. That's not the definition of update (or so i hope).

      I'd rather you guys admit to this point that our money is all used up from R&D or such, than continue receiving these what you call "updates".

    16. Gustav Öst on

      “We feel indebted to your ongoing support”
      You don’t have my support! I can’t get a refund. My support is being held hostage!

      “Following from our last update, we can confirm we are still on target for a September 2016 shipment.”
      Fuck you! How many times have you said things like this!? Last time was June 22nd:
      ”Following from our last update, we can confirm we are still on target for a July 2016 shipment.”

      I agree with @Peter J’s assessment of the situation.
      Also, my bluetooth speakers doesn’t need more “intelligent software removing barriers in many real-life situations”
      bluetooth speakers are pretty barrier less in themselves. No one is asking for it. But then again… no one is gonna get anything anyways.

      I think, the backer money is gone. We get never ever a speaker for the money. Sad but true.

    19. Marcus Sundman on

      "We know that our delays have damaged our credibility"

      No, it's your constant lies and lack of transparency that has damaged your credibility.

      "We have always promised that the FS-X would not be an orphan product."

      No, you haven't! That's another complete lie!

      "What we offer is a dramatic improvement to achieve a social and better connected world. You will have access to advanced, compatible HiFi with improved hardware and your rewards will harness intelligent software removing barriers in many real-life situations."

      So much bullshit it's just incredible. NOT A SINGLE BACKER was backing "intelligent software removing barriers in many real-life situations"!!! You are just constantly fucking with us, stringing us along, lying your ass of. Well fuck you too, David!

    20. Zooik on

      @Sami Kuhmonen and @Peter J
      Agree 100%.

      Yet again they release a bullshit update that tells us nothing. And who cares what they will do. Give us the speaker NOW and I can upgrade the OS myself (which I wont) to work with other of their stuff of which I will never buy.

      "Be respectful and considerate."
      The disrespect and neglect towards us the backers is just insane.

      Yes you deserve to die - and I hope you burn in Hell!

    21. Peter J on

      My dream some years ago was to receive a pair of speakers; I was looking forward to them. I will not buy another of your products and im sure the feedback from backers and the bad publicity you receive(d) will no doubt bring you down regardless of how much time you waste.
      "The future of our company depends on this project."? I would find a day job if I were you.

      My theory still stands. You have no control over design, manufacture or software of this project and you are simply middle men waiting for your order to come in.

      https://plus.google.com/u/0/communities/111146278169089866442

    22. Sami Kuhmonen on

      We still don't care. We want the product you have. Not some dream. You can make the speakers you sell later be whatever you want, we don't care.

      We will never buy anything from you again so it doesn't matter if these speakers will work with anything else you ever produce. That's the point. They will never see another Frankenspiel product so you could just ship what you have and then start selling v2 when you're ready. Let whoever cares buy that one.

      And when I say we I mean a huge number of backers who wanted the pledge items two years ago. There's a lot of us that don't care about your dreams or new OS. We want the product. Now.
