Late change for free stand

Hello everyone,

Do you remember the free, budget-friendly stand that we added as a gift to every reward with at least 1 FS-X?

We previously offered a plastic swivel stand but in longer term use, these have not worked. The sucker system only works on glass tops, and the ball-and-socket cracks; in summary, it's not robust.

As an alternative we came up with this sledge type stand made from HD foam. It is attached to the underside of the unit by self adhesive velcro. This design allows you to remove the stand when using the carrycase. It also has the advantage that it enhances the audio quality by reducing resonance from the plastic FS-X cabinet.

Please give us a few more days to finalise shipment for the first batch of backers.

Your next update will be no later than 2 weeks from now, Wednesday 17th February.

All the best,

The Frankenspiel Team

The "sucker system" on KS seems to work just fine though.

Obviously that's not the way to do it. If you absolutely must use velcro then you make 4 feet of the *soft* part of the velcro and stick in each corner of the bottom of the speaker. That way it'll work also without the foam "foot" which would have the hard part of the velcro at the top.
That said, if I receive speakers with velcro attached to them I'll send them back as defective.

Please reply to my request for a refund.

By all means include the foam "stand" but please don't fit the velcro strips. Let that be up to each user to choose.

Don't put Velcro on the bottom of the speaker. Don't make what looks like a decent looking speaker look like a piece of crap. Why? Why would you even contemplate it? I'm not even going to discuss the 'foam stand' here. You should be embarrassed with what you've done.

Skip the foam, nobody cares anymore, just ship the speakers!!!!

I am using their Soundscience QSB manufactured 5 years ago as my computer speakers.

Nice balanced sound. High quality gloss finish. Solid construction with 4 discreet rubber feet. With such a good foundation product, it's quite unbelievable to see the FS-X in such a state today.

I wouldn't have wanted the stand either way. And I don't really want the foam + velcro, either.

Mind you, it is quite true that adding a foam block of quality material will greatly improve the sound. However, as long as it still has a screw mount for putting it on a stand that means we can use something proper, which anyone who really cared about a stand would have eventually done in the first place. (Like one of those gorilla claws you use for accurate angling of cameras.)

The problem, more, is that many of us will probably have to scrape off the velcro stick-on to do our own solution. Good rubber feet, for the DIY-quick crowd. Again, if someone really wanted the best sound they'd source their own rather than a quickie solution.

Personally, I would suggest a much thinner mat. In the past few years they've started selling these denser foam kitchen drawer mats that can be easily cut and provide a decent vibration reduction. Something like that would allow it to fit in the case. I've also used thin surplus memory foam strips in a pinch.

@Adrian Joss I look forward to your update in two weeks more than Davids. Please post your legal findings! I'm with you.

There is no way that's a stand it's a bit of foam, it looks like a scrap bit of foam left over from factory packing. To say this is an improvement and actually helps the sound of the speaker has me worried. If I need to aid the speaker on a bit of foam to stop it rattling around on my desk spoiling the sound then there is something far wrong.

WTF!?!?!? Who on earth came up with this BS solution!?

Take your shitty foam and stick it where the sun doesn't shine! FRAUD!!!

    16. Johann Taljaard on

I'll skip the foam thingy, just please get the speakers out to us. I don't even care what colour, I just want this nightmare to be over.

Look like a 7 year old crafted this at school.
It's fascinating that you still believe we're stupid as hell.

I don't understand why shipment had to be delayed: you've said that a piece of foam will be shipped with every speaker: https://ksr-ugc.imgix.net/assets/005/110/997/1009e315fcd0f1ff439a8e43d2fb353d_original.png…

Enough with weak excuses and stalling tactics. I know honesty is a difficult concept for you, but how about a realistic statement of where you're up to with this project, and if / when we're going to receive our speakers.

I'll take mine without the kitchen sponge on stuck to the bottoms please. All I want is my damn speakers!!! Stop fobbing us off with this shit, and delivery on your promise.

    24. Michael Carr on

Who cares about a cheap foam stand that's free. Concentrate on delivering what you currently have and getting the rest of the speakers over from China. Just another stalling tactic. Another couple of days to get shipping finalised. You had them for 2+ weeks. They should be in the hands of some backers by now FFS

    25. Jan-Willem Ruys on

Happy to opt out of the free stand in return for faster delivery...

Looks like you got a cheap sponge and you roughly cut a bit off the top.
