Shipping FAQs

Hello everyone,

This update and next week’s update will be primarily focused on shipping.

We are currently in the process of updating and testing the build of another 1000 units. These units will then be sent before the end of October to our fulfillment partners.

For more info on shipping, please refer to our last update.

In this update, we will answer some of your FAQs.

“Can we collect our rewards from the Frankenspiel warehouse in Amsterdam or other fulfillment partners in Salt Lake City, Swindon, and Hong Kong?”

It will not be possible for backers to collect their rewards from our warehouses. We have over 1,000 backers and so it would not be realistic to offer this service to everyone. This would also result in a further delay in shipment for other backers.

“What happened to the 40 units, are these still going to professional reviewers & bloggers?”

We wanted to ensure that our ‘First Look’ backer, John H. Halpern, M.D., received his new set before the professional reviewers and bloggers. This way, John could help verify that our adjustments and improvements have been completed and potential hype from future reviews is justified.

One of the bloggers we planned to work with, received multiple negative messages which led us to conclude that it is more important to focus on shipping and trying to regain your trust, before we proceed with any further review activity.

“Where are the 100 units mentioned in your last update going to, are these still going out to professional reviewers & bloggers?”

The 100 units have completed vigorous testing. However, we have paused all additional activity until we have regained your trust.

“Where can I find my backer number?”

Your backer number can be found on your profile, in ‘Backed Projects’, select ‘Frankenspiel FS-X: the Bluetooth speaker that can!’.

Finally, we’d like to direct you to further feedback from ‘First Look’ backer, John.

His feedback comments on a few of our adjustments and improvements:

  • No clipping in and out of sound
  • Crisp, clean audio at max volume
  • Improved Bluetooth reception
  • Air no longer escaping from the back of the speaker

Your next update will be no later than a week from now, Wednesday 21st October.

All the best,

The Frankenspiel Team

@John Halpern, thanks for all of your input! I am glad to hear your positive reaction this time around, which hopefully indicates that Frankenspiel has worked out the issues. Perhaps you can post a video soon as you did a while back, so we can get a better sense of everything. But above all, I truly appreciate the time you've taken to test them out and let us know your reactions. If you get a chance, I'd love to know how the speakers perform outside. I'm also curious to hear more about the bass-heavu music distorting at high volumes -- does it happen when playing music wirelessly, with a wired connection, or both? Overall, it seems like the speakers are performing far better than the first pair you received, and that's great news.

Um I am in the 6xxs of backers, but I agree should go out in order of who backed first...

Hey look, it's another joke update. Wonder how many lies this one has.

      Protip:

If you actually want to "regain our trust" POST PICTURES of these 1000 units currently undergoing "updating and testing"!

Oh right. You don't know how to use a camera OR be honest.

Q: “Where are the 100 units mentioned in your last update going to..."?
A: "... However, we have paused all additional activity until we have regained your trust."
Yeah. because pausing and waiting will gain you a lot of trust...
      SEND THEM TO BACKERS!
"How do we pick them fairly?"
The first backers first!! I'm backer nine-hundred something so it wont be me, but thats fine!
      It's fair!
Do NOT sit on the speakers. If you send them to backers around 50 (if everyone ordered two) will get their order. Thats ~5% of the backers.
Even though I'm not among them I am willing to patiently stand in line as long as the really early backers get something.
Pausing, at this point, makes me even more angry.
      SHIP WHAT YOU HAVE!

@Mike11111... that thought had crossed my mind, but I had become pretty convinced that, as posited on the main comment thread, the plan/scam was to send out review units, get reviews, get pre orders then wind up the company. Not getting reviews at least makes that plan a less likely scenario, which can only be a good thing. Would still like to see some sort of photos of mass quantities of course, just like every other backer.

On the question “What happened to the 40 units, are these still going to professional reviewers & bloggers?” the creator answers "We wanted to ensure that our ‘First Look’ backer, John H. Halpern, M.D., received his new set before the professional reviewers and bloggers ..."
Well even that didn't succeed. On 23 september @DutchguyonAir wrote in a tweet: '"Bumping @KateGarne’s ‘Hey Baby’ (@TonyTokyoLDN Remix) thru my fresh pair of @Frankenspiel FS-X review speakers! " On 24 september John H. Halpern wrote 'I DID get the speakers today'.
Ofcourse it is just a little detail, but there are so many many of this little details to add up by now that it is hard to believe the things the creator says.
So i guess he is right that the only way to regain our trust by now is, is by actually delivering the speakers to backers. I am convinced he is able to produce good review units. Surely hope he is also able to mass-produce them.

@Frankenspiel: A tips for you -> To gain backers trust back POST A PICTURE.
If you need explanations on how to take a picture with a phone or a camera feel free to pm me !!!

    8. Jeff on

I have long ago purchased speakers, so my only interest is in the fact that I backed for two.

I still have 0 hope for these.. because honestly... how hard is it for Frankenspiel to take a photograph of these?!?!?!

    9. Mike11111 on

@bazpoint I wish this were the case. My guess is it simply means that in fact only a single pair of working speakers exists, and they're with John Halpern. Not sending to reviewers or the other backers probably means they don't actually have any speakers to send.

    10. bazpoint on

My hope-o-meter is nudging back from "no hope" to "a little bit of hope"... the decision to not send to bloggers before backers receive units is an immensely positive step. It's the difference between every review, however positive, being followed by dozens of comments calling Frankenspiel scammers (& worse), to those reviews perhaps instead being followed with comments (hopefully) saying "the kickstarter was a mess, but the speakers are here now, and wow - they sound good"!"

As for shipping timescales, it still seems wildly optimistic to think we'll see deliveries for at least another month, but maybe, just maybe, the end is in sight.
