Testing, then testing again

Hello everyone,

The software changes and bug fixes are now complete.

We are in the final phase of testing to ensure it is 100% ready for commercial purposes (testing was reopened after our software changes and bug fixes were complete).

We are fully confident with the production version of the FS-X, in testing it is now consistently delivering over 100 dB in single mode whilst retaining a high level of bass, all without distortion.

A few comments about the ‘First Look’ units have raised questions on air escaping from the rear and the scratch-resistant coating. To answer this, all ‘retail’ units will have airtight gaskets. And all ‘retail’ units will be varnished with UV coating (the ‘First Look’ units were only spray painted), this will ensure they are harder wearing and more scratch resistant.

Fortunately (and unfortunately) when testing and testing, then testing a little more we uncovered a small but important bug that occurs under certain conditions. This bug has now been mitigated but we may need to drop a new, less important feature to avoid a further delay.

This is a bug in the Bluetooth chip which inappropriately detects low power and triggers the (new) audio and visual warnings when playing at max volume. This would occur when the battery level occasionally and momentarily drops below 3 volts (the Bluetooth shutdown voltage), triggering a BT shutdown.

We have mitigated this bug in the software, so that the audio quality is unaffected, but the audio and visual warnings for low voltage are still triggered and do not shut off. Since this is an internal function with the BT chip, it is not in our control. The chip company is looking urgently at a solution, but ultimately, as a last resort, we may have to switch off the warning function.

Once we have completed final software testing, we will be able to provide you with more pictures, videos, a specific timeline and we will resume reviews with professional bloggers and YouTube vloggers.

Your next update will be no later than a week from now, Wednesday 19th August.

All the best,

The Frankenspiel Team

      Also, what is this new, less imported feature?

      And another delay, I had not expected anything else -.-

      "This bug has now been mitigated but we may need to drop a new, less important feature to avoid a further delay."
      --> Communication please ? New feature ?

      "This is a bug in the Bluetooth chip which inappropriately detects low power ...."
      --> Do you understand what "inapproriately" means ? This sentence tells me that the bug (or feature, whichever) "inappropiately" shows that your hardware design/parametres for the power supply part have been badly chosen/calculated.

      "We have mitigated this bug in the software, "
      --> Simply meaning "we ignore the alarm and trigger the chip 10 times it to keep working instead of shutting down". .... "mitigated" .... acceptable(?) work-around you mean.

      Every time there is an update they post it on Facebook as well. I asked them for photos on the recent post, you all should too

      PicturesPictures!
      You should have all units by now and still you use the word "will".
      Will have airtight gaskets. etc.
      Short of flashing the bluetooth chip with new firmware, what can you do?
      I'm guessing flashing them when they reside inside the speakers is not practical which is yet another reason why I think the speakers are not yet assembled and/or shipped to you.

      Take a picture of a bunch of hardware.
      Any amount that is not just testing hardware.
      I don't believe you have it! Prove me wrong!

      Yet no pictures or proof that any product exists besides pre-production units.

      You guys forget to say:

      "We do not expect this work to cause significant further delay and we intend to provide you with positive news in our next update"

      @Creator

      I would also love to some some pictures.

      I would also like to see another round of testing of the finished product with the first look backers. It would suck if we got our units and then discovered another couple of critical bugs that can't be fixed because we can't flash the firmware.

      To @Creator
      I'm not the only person to ask you doing some photos or videos... little would be enough since you have not posted any media of the production nor the test units.

      I encourage the testers and the creator to post a photo of the units. I would like to see the FS-X.
