Timeline, Live Q&A and Other News

Posted by Frankenspiel Ltd. (Creator)

Here's a timeline of our projections for the final stages of this project. We have extended our estimates to counteract any possibility of unforeseen slippage.

Remember these dates are including allowance for slippage, of course we fully intend to reduce our timeline as much as we can, so as to deliver the FS-X as soon as possible i.e. long before 4th May, a year since we were successfully funded. We do not have any intention to let you, or ourselves down.

Please note: We haven’t released this information up until now because we had originally wanted to wait until we were without-a-doubt, 100% certain of our production and shipping dates. However, after reading recent comments we understand that some of you would prefer to have an idea of our current timelines.

The live Q&A will be held at 11pm (UK time) on Friday 20th February. If the Q&A is disrupted due to unforeseen circumstances such as signal issues we will organise another on Tuesday 24th February.

We’ll be using ‘Chatzy’, an online private chat room service. It requires no registration steps, no popup ads, does not require Flash or any installation on your computer, it works on all major browsers with any language and through corporate firewalls. It’s also really easy to use.

An invitation link will be shared for the live Q&A a few hours beforehand in the comments section of Kickstarter, as well as Facebook & Twitter.

Please be respectful and considerate in the live Q&A, not only to Chia but to other backers who are interested in learning more about the technical aspects of the FS-X and in particular how that has impacted on the timeline.

We recently replied to a backer in the comments section in regards to the FS-X’s original Kickstarter specs, in comparison with its current status. We’d like to highlight this again for you all below.

Our next update will be no later than 10 days from now, 1st March 2015.

All the best,

The Frankenspiel Team

I was just looking at the historical updates and found this..."Unfortunately we have had to postpone the production run which was planned for this last week. This is due to the fact that one of our main components is late incoming, and unfortunately there is no alternative source of supply to which we could have turned.

We are told the component can be expected during this coming week, and after incoming quality control inspection, we can continue with the build. It looks currently as if this is going to delay shipping."

That was from July last year lol. Oh the memories

Although this update is finally good to hear and may isn't too far away, my disappointment and concern is the same as 99% of the backers on this project. There have been several times that we have been told "final testing is complete" or that "we've prepared the warehouse for you, it will soon be filled with your FS-X" etc. It's not down to misunderstanding at all. There has been a clear effort to pull the wool over our eyes regarding this project. The recent couple of weeks do seem to be a more honest and detailed approach and I would have preferred to have had this the entire way though the project. Sadly we haven't as as such, I still have my doubts for the 4th May. I also am very dubious about backing another project. That said though, I have (possibly foolishly) backed a project by cMoar. Their project is running now and hope to delivery in June / July. So Frankenspiel. My challenge to you is to beat that projects delivery. Bear in mind their campaign is still running and didn't finish almost a year ago.

You are delivering with almost 1 year delay and are still confident that people will support another kickstarter campaign? I'm not only mad about the delay (it's crowdfunding and delays belong to this type of funding...) but I'm pissed about the way you communicated and presented everything. You're either pretty naive or just liers. At the beginning it looked like you understand how producing such technology works but now there's a new light on Frankenspiel. I'm really wondering who will give you more money after this fail here.

    11. Marsha Tyszler

@Frankenspiel, thanks for the outline and info. It is very helpful to know how you're hoping things will happen from here on out, and it looks like a viable plan of action! I am also glad to see that some of the specs are now better than originally anticipated -- it makes the changes well worth the wait!

I wish I would be able to attend the AMA, but I won't be able to get online at that time. It would be great, if you have a way, to post the event afterwards for those of us who can't make it. Any chance?

@Maikel, your comment is uncalled for. I have been paying very close attention to this campaign, and I can assure you that the company has never lied to its backers. However, I believe that there may have been some misunderstandings and miscommunications. Don't forget that many backers' first language is not English, so some people may not entirely comprehend every detail they're reading. Even for us native English speakers, it's often tough to grasp a detailed, complex situation that is mostly being described in writing. And from a campaign's standpoint, it is very difficult to explain how each situation transpires, good or bad, so it's easy for some details to accidentally be left out or not clearly communicated to backers -- but when asked for clarification, Frankenspiel has always and honestly delivered. You have every right to be upset about the delays or disagree with certain decisions, but it's uncalled for to call them liars when there's no obvious lies being told. Believe me, I know lies when I see them -- I was a backer of the failed LUCI campaign where the campaign manager was caught in a web of lies (ie: photoshopping photos and representing them as his prototype, lying about his professional background, etc.). He almost stole $400,000 before some backers pulled out, and luckily, Kickstarter shut down his campaign with 30 seconds before its clock ran down so no the remaining $363,000 in funds would not be stolen from unaware backers. Go check the media, and the LUCI KS campaign page. Read the campaign comments if you want to see what real dishonesty is. Frankenspiel means no malice and has great intentions. They want us to be fully wowed by the FS-X, and they're doing everything in their power to make an amazing product with new technology that no other company has integrated into speakers. It's tough to be the first company to try something new, and I think they've been handling it all very well. So feel free to voice your dissatisfaction, but please don't call an upstanding company liars unless you have solid, tangible proof of it like backers did in the LUCI campaign.

How are the ancillaries doing in their design and manufacture?

    13. Johann Taljaard on

Almost a year late? I don't see how this is possible as you had a working product on the kickstarter pledge page, with audio tests etc etc. And did you not have a working model on your launch event? Was all this a lie? How can something go so wrong that it takes a year to fix? I am so sorry I pledged for this. Was supposed to be for 2014 Christmas presents, now I wonder if we will see it before Christmas 2015?

Thanks for the update, now please stick to it. I understand the need for the changes beforehand wear and tear, potential failure, etc. But 1. we need to hear a high quality test demo against other units 2. get the unit in our hands!!! I can remember being geeked to get his unit in my hands for a trip to IBiza last year. In december I was hoping to have it for trip I am taking next month.... Now, we wont be seeing it till maybe may? I am still hopeful that this unit will blow our expectations out of the water, please keep working hard!

THANK YOU FS for this update and clear communication today. If you stick to it, you'll win back hearts and minds of most backers. WELL DONE!

      Hi Martin,

      We completely understand.

The launch of the subwoofer campaign is the final activity on our timeline. So only once the FS-X units are delivered to backers, we'll launch the subwoofer campaign. We agree and we'll only release the next project once you've had a chance to find out how great our work can be.

Thanks for your support, we'd love you to be a part of our next project, so we do not intend to let you down.

      All the best,
      The Frankenspiel Team

    18. Martin on

On one side, I really would like to have both the FS-X and the sub, but on the other side (and I think I am not alone with this opinion), I will not spend another Pound (or Euro, or Dollar) on your next Kickstarter campaign without having received the first product, the FS-X first.
You might want to delay the subwoofer campaign until all people got their FS-X and had a chance to get to use it and test it and get a feeling for your products.
