Engineering Issues & What's Next

Posted by Frankenspiel Ltd. (Creator)

Engineering Issues

The Integration of the software update to the Bluetooth chip is complete and is now in final testing. To reiterate what we said in the last update, this is all about ensuring that the FS-X has a pure digital audio pathway, and the highest level of audio quality is available from ALL devices which support (standard) A2DP Bluetooth.

This leaves us with the only open engineering issue - the integration of the new subwoofer into the FS-X HiFi system. Although this took longer than anticipated, we can now report this is complete and is also in final testing.

Our designers and engineers are aiming high, trying to deliver a really outstanding portable speaker - the FS-X, and one which can work seamlessly with our new subwoofer. We are all painfully aware that this process has taken longer than what was initially hoped, and only now are we able to commence final testing before going into production.

What's Next

Recent comments have raised the issue of shipping before Christmas. We have concentrated on engineering aspects in this and recent updates, whereas next up, we will focus on more general topics.

All the best,

The Frankenspiel Team

I think teething problems are always expected especially for a project at this scale. I'm glad you are making the necessary changes to make the final product a quality one.

However, seeing this project is running behind I'd like more updates and moreover a realistic timeframe as to when this will be delivered to us.

I appreciate some of the people here frustrated as to how long it's taking and lack of updates this is where you just have to take it on the chin and make the necessary changes.

The slippage on this project is troubling and, frankly, has soured my involvement. I'd cancel if I could.

Actually the last updates dont say anything at all. Apparently there are so called "engineering issues" but there are absolutely no details available on how this will affect the delivery time. Also whats up with the add ons? Still no pictures of the pouch and cables. And how about those mounting brackets/stands? Still no info on these either!
These things should be ready by now... Or are these affected by other " issues"?

      @Lee Gibson

We have every right to be upset if it does not arrive this side of Christmas, we have been told many times that shipping was right around the corner. That coupled with updates lacking information, which is always promised later but never delivered is a matter of concern. We have got more updates about the launch party and shipping right around the corner than we have gotten with explanations about why these delays are happening. This is about my money, they took it on a promise, and I deserve to know why they are not living up to it.

Maikel Lodewijk ok now... Please leave those exaggerations for kids stories. Try and use the chat as a way to add to the conversation not take away from it. I've purchased two of these speakers. Im looking forward to them as much as anyone. That being said, If they dont work right, Ill gladly wait another 6-8 months returning them and getting a new set. Im exctied to get these. But not until they are perfect.

Good news, hope the testing proves its worth. Keep people updated every two weeks so they stay confident. Anyone who is upset it wont be this side of Xmas or is that negative at this stage should not be on kickstarter.

      Thank you for the update.
However I lately feel like you all just try to buy time with your updates, since they contain not enough news to justify the big time between them. I know that prototyping is hard (done it myself), but the amount of delay and the lack of transparency and information is unacceptable.
Please try to give us at least minor every one or two weeks.

I am really happy about the news and I am looking forward to hearing the FS-X with my own ears :-)

Now though I am not in a rush for Christmas, it has been long since the last update considering all the stress on the forum. Many people thought you had closed the shop.

Sorry guys but again nothing new has been said! I don't believe in this product anymore... It took 3 weeks to write this update? I hope you deliver for 2016... :-|

      @ Frankenspiel Woohoo! ;-)

On another note, my laptop is completely dead, but my phone is sort of up and running. Have a genius appt, so hopefully my barely functional iPhone 4s will be straightened out soon so we can finally connect reliably! (Nobody here is throwing out a working iPhone 5 or above or an older iPad by any chance, right? Never hurts to ask, lol. :-p )

      can't trust anymore this guys

    14. John Dyer on

Appreciate the update and glad you have all the engineering issues sort but can we not wait 5 weeks for the next update about Christmas delivery because it's only 5 weeks away and I would like to know if I need to sort out a new present.

    15. Jimmy Stiers on

Great job, guys. Can't wait to test them myself.

      Tnx for the update.
