The Planetary Society, under the leadership of CEO Bill Nye, is the world’s largest and most influential non-profit space organization. The organization is supported by over 50,000 members in over 100 countries, and by hundreds of volunteers around the world.
Their mission is to empower the world’s citizens to advance space science and exploration. They advocate for space and planetary science funding in government, inspire and educate people around the world, and develop and fund groundbreaking space science and technology.
To join The Planetary Society and contribute directly to space exploration (and get our CHALLENGE COIN!) visit their website HERE.
In January 2016, Konstantin Batygin and Mike Brown from the California Institute of Technology published their hypothesis that another planet may exist in the solar system. Their mathematical models showed that a giant planet on the edge of our solar system could explain unique orbits of distant objects in the Kuiper Belt. Based on that hypothesis, astronomers are now searching the skies for this hypothetical planet.
Batygin, Brown, and many astronomers refer to this hypothesis as "Planet 9," while others refer to it as "Planet X." You can read more about the name in the FAQs. We are excited to share the science and history of this investigation throughout the campaign!
We are thrilled to partner with The Planetary Society, run by CEO Bill Nye and founded by Carl Sagan! More news about the partnership will be unfolding throughout the campaign, but to learn about them and their commitment to space exploration, visit their website.

Foxtrot Games is a small publisher committed to beautiful, engaging, and approachable board games, especially those that celebrate what's good in the world. We have successfully fulfilled four Kickstarter projects previously, including the award-winning games Lanterns: The Harvest Festival and World's Fair 1893.
Risks and challenges
Manufacturing thousands of board games is an expensive and time-consuming endeavor. There are a lot of steps in the process, and delays or setbacks could happen at any one of them. This is our fifth Kickstarter campaign, and we are working with many of the same companies to deliver rewards to backers.
Here is some feedback we received on our previous projects:
— Terry Wrightsman, LANTERNS backer: "WOW! The February 18th update was great. THAT is how all Kickstarter updates should be done. Personable, professional and informative."
— Leah Webber, WORLD's FAIR 1893 backer: "Thank you guys for consistently making excellent, replayable games on a timely schedule. I will always give your projects my time and money!"
— John Carl Brown, WORLD'S FAIR 1893 backer: "Thank you guys for a great product, and for a great campaign, you ran a model effort on kickstarter from the communication throughout the funding period and beyond."
— Craig Groff-Folsom, SPY CLUB backer: "This game is everything I hoped it would be! Thank you for all your effort in running a transparent campaign and delivering a quality product!"
This will be our first board game with a companion app. Multiple members of the team have years of professional experience delivering software products. We partnered with an app developer early in the game's development, and we published a functional Version 1.0 to the Apple App Store and Google Play Store last summer for playtesting. Version 2.0, in development now, will enhance the codebase to improve the usability and aesthetics.
