Dear Backers,

All of us at FOVE feel so blessed and amazed by the support we’ve received. To hit our goal so quickly is nothing less than spectacular, and this experience has been truly humbling. Thank you!

When FOVE first began, it was an idea shared between two friends who felt that virtual reality was missing something important. We wanted to bring that missing piece to the world in a way that truly conveyed just how powerful virtual reality could be in a very human way.

WE DID IT! @FOVEinc is fully funded on @Kickstarter. Check it out! #FOVEVR www.getfove.com[Tweet This]

Now, with your support, we are able to bring our vision of FOVE, the world’s first virtual reality headset with eye tracking, to the world. As early backers, we want to hear from you. What do you want to see come from FOVE? Tell us in the comments below.

Thank you for your support.

      Congratulations, eye tracking really is a very attractive idea. I'm from Taiwan, is a early backers, I'm looking forward to be able to quickly get together for your products and make more contributions to this product together

      Eye tracking is definitely the attraction point of your project and exploring this feature and all its possibilities would be what I would vote as the primary focus of your efforts. I intend to explore the FoVE with live video feeds (similar to what you demonstrated with the physically challenged individuals in your promo video) and I hope you will be attentive to this potential as well as gaming use. Go team FoVE!!!

      @eVRydayVR
      Thank you!

      Remount is an issue we are working on. You can m\ove your head naturally without problems, provided that the display fits well - so we are working on fitting as a high priority. On the software level we can compensate for it. Full calibration is intended to be a one time per user experience, however at early stages you might have to do a one-point re-calibration every time you put on the headset as a validation and compensation step.

      @Robert
      This is indeed our plan. We do not want to deal with more than we have to at this stage, we are a small company. It is trivial to drop a prefab in, however depending on your game design you will have to decouple the head motion and aiming/ui mechanics for example.

      I would like to see you focus on the eye tracking feature and leave the positional tracking to lighthouse, stem, and priovr, etc. Same with audio leave out headphones. My hope to be that it would be trivial to drop a prefab into unity and connect to one of the many existing trackers.

      Very excited to see FOVE meeting its goal so quickly! FOVE is already an ambitious but feasible project and I honestly just want to see your effort concentrated on the things you're already promising. I did have one question though which was raised by someone I spoke with: suppose that during head motion the headset shifts or moves relative to your eyes. Will this invalidate calibration? How often will re-calibration be required? What's the plan to deal with this? Head motion is still an important part of natural interaction, even with eye tracking, so I think this could be an important issue to address. Thank you. :)

      @Bruno... Keep dreaming! We're all tech junkies over here so you're in good company. Can't wait to make it happen.

      @Yann: Glad you like it! Definitely worth considering.

      @Joey: You can see our internal workings and various prototype stages on this page here. We've created some nice interior drawings of the full inner workings you can view under "Tech Specs" on our website, www.getFOVE.com.

      2K screens are SO 2015.... in 2016 4K will be the new 2K!
      Graphic hardware will get way cheaper (and more so thank't to foveated rendering!).
      Competition will have it. Most of us (bakers) are tech junkies, so we will have it, too. Plenty of content. Can I dream about it?

      Both lighthouse and CastAR tracking can be built reasonably cheap (photodiodes and LEDs, respectively, with strict timing measurement for lighthouse). Since I wear glasses, any solution for focusing would be appreciated. So far, I must say you've exceeded my expectations already. :)

      @TheNr24 that's a great idea! Keep telling us what other things we should consider for stretch goals!

      Lighthouse support as a stretch goal would be amazing!

    13. FOVE Projektgründer am May 22, 2015

      @Jason, good point! That's why we designed FOVE to work with just about any over-the-ear headphones. That way you can use the headphones that you already love.

    14. Jason Pokines am May 22, 2015

      Congratulations!

      I think the only thing FOVE is missing is built-in headphones. I won't speak for everyone, but I know I would prefer over-the-ear style headphones, as I'd probably be wearing this for a long time and comfort would be a concern.
