What's Happening Here.......
We've got a finished record people. Eleven brand new songs ready to go. But instead of rushing this thing into the world we are taking our time to get a professional team and plan together before we release in the Spring of 2019. If you are a fan, and this time frame makes you nuts......then you are in the right place! Because if you are able to contribute, we will get the record in your hands by the end of the year! (January at the latest.) That's several months before anyone else. In addition, you'll be helping us get the word out there. (Publicists and marketing firms are expensive.) If all this means nothing to you because you've never heard of us, or are interested in more details about the new record......KEEP READING!
Who We Are.....
Hey there, we are Four Year Bender from San Francisco. We made a record earlier this century that a lot of people really liked. It looked liked this:
And it sounded like this:
If you hadn't noticed we've been gone for awhile. The last decade or so has been a wild ride, that may or may not have involved a few day jobs, a hospital or two, and a couple other institutions, but let's not dwell on the negative here shall we?
The fact is, after an extended hiatus we are healthy, happy, and officially back with a brand new full length album. I would imagine there are more than a couple of you saying, "yeah right! I'll believe it when I see it!!!" Well hold on tight because HERE IT IS!!!
Here's the thing, this album is already recorded, mixed, and mastered. Meaning it is ready to go!! What we need is help making some CD's (mostly for our parents), Vinyl (for the cool kids), and marketing the crap outta this thing so maybe some folks will listen to it!
And the reason we want people to listen to it, is simple. BECAUSE WE THINK IT IS AWESOME!!
What We Did........
For those of you that might have enjoyed our first record, we want to let you know that we didn't go all "new-direction-jazz-odyssey" on you here. No wheels were reinvented, no envelopes pushed beyond recognition. What we did do is build on the well-established "Four Year Bender sound" in all it's front porch, feel good, not-taking-ourselves-too-seriously, glory. Let's be honest here, we only know how to write one kind of music. But we feel like we nailed it.
The big difference between our latest effort and our debut is that this is a BAND record. When Ryan and Mike Winger (producer) made "Lucky" back in the day, it was primarily recorded in an apartment in San Francisco. It was laboriously erected piece by piece over the course of a couple years. And while we couldn't have been happier with the results, that didn't make sense this time around.
What did make sense, was getting the full band together in a studio for multiple days and playing loud, loose, and live. Holy crap did we have some fun.......see below!
The result was eleven songs that sound rich, vibrantly human, and full. (Basically, they sound like us on those occasional shows where we totally nail it!)
When we started this project, we had a result in mind. We're not exaggerating when we say the results blew the expectations outta the water. It has been a beautiful experience, with old friends coming back together, new friends inspiring the hell out of us, and a lot of hope that the future can indeed be bright.
It may be corny to say that we'd love to have all of you be part of the team, but we're gonna say it anyway. The more people involved, the more fun this is for everyone.
If you can contribute in any way, you'll be helping this record be heard which is truly all we care about. So please.......if you are not in a position to donate....do us a favor and listen to it anyway!!

Risks and challenges
The major challenge with this album is getting it into the proper hands before we officially release it to the public. Hiring publicists and generating some buzz is not only expensive, but time consuming. For us to do this correctly we are looking at the possibility of a general release date some time next Spring.
UNLESS.....you go ahead and buy it here, and then you get it a couple days after we do. (Hoping for December......January at the latest.)Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
