About this project
In July 2011, I left my job in New York City, bought a VW Vanagon and hit the road. For the last two years, I've been put 80 thousand miles on my camper traveling around North America. Along the way, I've met fellow travelers exploring in campers of every shape and size. Their vehicles aren't the end-all-be-all's but enablers of lifestyles. Each one reflects their specific interests. Their stories and vehicles inspired me and I started documenting them with the #vanlife tag on Instagram.
This tag spun off into a photo project and now I am raising money to publish a photo book documenting some of my favorite campers that I've seen in the last two years and stories from the road.
I'm not a graphic designer, so to create the book and rewards, I've teamed up with Doubleday & Cartwright, a creative studio in New York. I wanted to work with them on this project because I like what they've done with the Victory Journal and their projects for brands like Five Boro Skateboards, Blue Print Cleanse and Nike.

1. Photo Book
Home Is Where You Park It. A hard cover coffee table book 11 inches by 11 inches, 125 pages, with an extended intro and one hundred shots of campers, including a bunch of vanlife shots I've never put on the web. Signed by yours truly. 65$ shipped in the US.
2. Pocket T-Shirt
Limited edition Vanlife T-Shirt. A pocket T with a logo inspired 70s comic book art in heather grey or white. Printed on a No Mas tshirt. Available in Extra Small to Extra Large. 35$ shipped in the US
3. Bumper Stickers
Bumper Sticker Pack. If You Lived In Your Car, You'd Be Home. Home Is Where You Park It. Vanlife. Warning, these are a dead giveaway to cops and other members of the square community that you sleep in your car on a regular basis. User discretion advised. Size ranging from 13" to 3". 10$ Shipped in the US for your choice of one large and one small sticker, and I just added a 25$ option for three large and three small stickers.
4. The Whole Enchilada
Everything But the Kitchen Sink. One signed copy of Home Is Where You Park It, one T-Shirt, and one sticker pack (one small and one large sticker) for 100$ shipped in the US.
Risks and challenges
Home Is Where You Park It will be my second photo book. In 2011, I worked with !t Books, part of Harper Collins, to turn The Burning House into the book. I learned a lot throughout this process and chose to self publish Home Is Where You Park It so that I will have more control over the design, marketing and distribution. This control comes with added challenges. Thats why I decided to work with Doubleday & Cartwright.
