I am set out to design my first collection in Khadi cotton for the Spring/Summer 2012 season
It will be a special collection of dresses from my line, a fortes design.
Khadi is a cotton cloth from India made almost completely without the use of electricity.
It is woven from hand-twisted cotton yarns on ancient 'pit' looms.
I recently was reminded of Gandhi's teachings and how he spent his days, spinning his threads to make his handmade homespun cotton.
He was a strong advocate of Khadi. My Khadi collection is going to have a very whimsical feelIt will also tell a story of hard work and human virtue
I had been searching for a great Khadi source for years and I finally found one; its funny that it coincided with my new love for Gandhi.
I will buy the Khadi cotton and have the samples made.
The money is for
-producing the samples
-show to showcase the collection
-travel to trade show
- (30 days)
