The Tipsy Gypsies are recording their disc "Little Victories" - Sultry Vocals, Fast Guitars, Strong Drinks, & Low Down Good Times
Who are the Tipsy Gypsies?
We are a group of professional and semi-pro musicians who perform their own unique music. Rooted in 40's Swing and French Gypsy Jazz but updated with modern influences, The Tipsy Gypsies' music has been described as "if Django Reinhardt and Billie Holiday got drunk and had a child who loved the Beatles and Tom Waits."
We are very excited to bring your our new music. By selling 'pre-release' CD's and other super cool rewards, we are hoping to raise $3,500 to help offset the cost of recording our new CD. By pledging for one of the rewards we have setup, you can help us achieve this goal.
Hilary and Forrestt have been crafting songs about love lost and love gained, something we think everyone can understand. The writing style has developed into a somewhat darker and more bluesy vibe, departing from our previous discs' heavy gypsy jazz influence. Our gypsy roots are still burning and are being harvested in a deeper direction. (See the videos below for examples of new songs!)
We have been performing the new material live for the last year and the response has been tremendous. Now the songs are all ironed out and ready for the recording studio. We have been working on our "Pre-Production" tracks and are scheduling recording dates now so that we can be done by late June or early July.
We've learned a few lessons from our last CD that we recorded, "Lipstick Holdup", and are ready to use them in our new sessions. That last CD won some local song writing awards and has given us the confidence necessary to expand on our song writing repertoire.
Between the five of us we have over one hundred years worth of musical experience, music degrees and experience recording for larger acts in serious recording studios. We are ready to throw down in the studio!

Reviews of our last CD:
“I first saw The Tipsy Gypsies at one of New Times photog Steve Miller’s studio shindigs and was immediately blown away by their tight musicianship, Django Reinhardt/Gypsy jazz sound, awesome original compositions, and saucy front woman Hillary Langdon, who puts her own spin on Billie Holiday’s vocal prowess.”
“The group’s most recent album was a revelation, a collection of hook-laden, sassy tunes that seethe with swagger and soar with snotty irreverence. ”
- Glen Starkey, Music Writer for the New Times, San Luis Obispo, CA
“This is a must see band. Period. I could end the blog here because it really is the only point about this band I want to make. See this band live.”
- KRUSH 92.5 San Luis Obispo
Thank you everyone for reading!
At least 12. There might be more depending on how these sessions play out.
