Online co-op... kind of!

Hi everyone,

The Rabbit and The Owl is now 1 week old on Steam! Thanks to everyone who has played the game so far and for all the kind words about the experience of the full game :)

It has come to my attention that there is an unofficial workaround to playing online co-op with friends. It is not anything implemented natively, but basically you can use this really amazing application called Parsec

Essentially, it lets one person host the game locally and share their screen with other players online. Their input devices are seamlessly integrated into the host's computer so you can play the game as if you were connected to the host's computer directly. There's very little latency as long as everyone's Internet is good.

I was able to test this successfully with both the 1 controller + 1 keyboard setup and the 2 controller setup for co-op.

I've seen this application being used for games like Enter the Gungeon and Sausage Sports Club -- games that do not inherently have online co-op but use this as a workaround. I just caution that I do not officially support it and give no guarantees that it'll work well for you.

Anyways, just thought you all should know that this is a possible option!

Thank you to all of you from the bottom of my heart for your continued support over the years. It means the world to me and the rest of us at Formal Sheep. I hope you all enjoy the game!

Steam keys sent + clarifications

Hello everyone,

By now all of you who qualified should've received Steam keys in your Kickstarter messages. As a reminder, the game releases tomorrow at noon!

I wanted to clarify a few things:

  • These keys only work on Steam (PC and Mac). To activate, open up Steam, go to "Games" at the top navigation bar, then go to "Activate a Product on Steam." Copy and paste the keys there.
  • For those of you who pledged for the game + soundtrack, it may not be clear why there are two lines. The first line is the game key, the second line is a key for the DLC which contains the soundtrack to the game. You can listen to this music using Steam Overlay or access the MP3 files directly in your game installation directory. By the way, here is the Steam store page for the soundtrack DLC if anyone's curious. Soundtrack keys require the base game in order to access.
  • Apparently, soundtrack key activation *may* show some sort of error message. But if you try activating again it'll say the key was already claimed. This should not be a problem. I think it's an error related to the fact that the base game isn't released yet.
  • For those of you who wanted a DRM-free version, we will be working on getting the game onto other platforms like GOG in the future, and provide keys for free when that happens.
  • Digital/hardcover artbook has been lower on the priority list, so we will hopefully have time to work on that soon. Bonus levels will also be worked on post-release.

Please message me directly if you run into any issues. I will try to resolve them promptly!

I am so excited to finally share the game with you all. Less than 24 hours to go!

Release Date: Friday, August 3!

Hello everyone,

The Rabbit and The Owl will release on Steam on Friday, August 3 at noon! The soundtrack (should) be available at that time too. I have yet to send out Steam keys, but I will be able to take care of that this weekend. Steam keys will also include keys to unlock the soundtrack if you qualified for those rewards!

Sadly, bonus levels are not going to make it into release. We had way too much stuff to take care of, and we wanted to focus on getting the game out the door. This will be released hopefully within a month of initial release as a free update (we still have many things to do post-release as well!).

If you haven't already, please wishlist/follow the game on Steam! It helps with Steam's algorithm in terms of game discovery for other people as well :)

Less than a week to go!

Steam store page

Hey everyone,

Quick update: our store page has been approved! The game is still being reviewed, but this means you can see the game as "Coming soon" on Steam! It would be helpful to follow the game on Steam as well :)

We will send out Kickstarter reward keys later this week so you can pre-activate the game.
