Christopher Moeller is an American graphic novelist and painter whose illustrations have enhanced comics, games and related publications for more than 20 years. Iron Empires, his creator-owned series, is the setting for two fully painted, self-contained graphic novels (Faith Conquers and Sheva's War) as well as two short comics stories.
Forged Lord Comics is a tiny comics publisher with a singular purpose: Publish Christopher Moeller's comics, old and new. We are Luke Crane, Chris Allingham, Thor Olavsrud and, of course, Christopher Moeller.
For the past four years, we've been quietly and steadily working on a new comic written and painted by Chris. This new story is the third installment in the Iron Empires series which started in the early 90s.
Void is the third fully painted graphic novel set in the gothic science fiction setting of the Iron Empires. These stories take us into a precarious future, where prideful, quarreling human empires stand on the edge of extinction. Void is set in the Comoran Worlds, where starship captain Vasa Sunder faces dangers posed by his leaders, his military opponents, and his own pride.

The book itself is a 112-page hardcover graphic novel: 6.625" x 10.25". Like the originals, it is a stand-alone, complete story. In this case, the story is told in three 32-page chapters. The book also contains sketches and studies of the characters, creatures and ships from the story.
There hasn't been an Iron Empires book in 15 years. It's possible that we could get this book picked up by a major publisher, but we're dedicated to keeping this book completely independent. We want to have a direct relationship with people who care about Chris' work—you. Because we're fans and creators, too. We adore Chris' earlier work. It inspired us to create and self-publish.
Years later Fate has conspired to give us the chance to bring a new graphic novel to life. We hope that this starts the cycle anew and inspires another generation to create awesome stuff and get it out into the world.
For the past four years we've been paying Chris a page rate out of our own pockets so he could continue to make a living while working on this new book. We now have a gorgeous graphic novel with an exciting story.
So we're asking for your help. We could use a boost to get this book printed, into your hands and into stores all over the world.
Understand, every donation to our cause brings with it heavy responsibilities. For Faith Conquers, supporters were encouraged to sign on as members of the Hotok Temple Guard, their names recorded for posterity in the back of the book. For Void, we will be reprising this proud tradition. Every person donating to Our Holy Cause will have his or her rank and name (or that of a champion, if your spirit is weak), printed in the back of Iron Empires: Void.
We hope to fully staff twenty-five line warships, from the flagship "Prayer of Vengeance" to the plucky light cruiser "Bright Eyed Stallion." Assignments will be ranked according to the wealth of the donor (in the Iron Empires, power is held by those with the greatest resources). These appointments, proud and glorious as they are, must not be entered into lightly. Hammer Jacks will report to the mustering yard at Valabham at the appointed date, or face arrest as deserters. Lords Pilot are responsible for their personal kit, including vacuum skin, hard suit, and fully-upgraded crucis. Hammer Lords will be held, upon pain of death, to the terms of their charter to High Admiral Udulor.
Together we can will bring war to the heathen and glory to House Udulor! Praise Ahmilahk!

Risks and challenges
The risks of this project are mostly production based. The painting and writing are complete. The scans are done and the layout is underway (and everything has been backed up to three locations). Production lies ahead. Printing, proofing, reprinting if necessary; doing what's needed to make sure the physical product matches the integrity of the beautiful work it contains. Then distribution: getting the book in your hands first, then out there for new fans to enjoy, and doing it efficiently. Fortunately, Luke has published over a dozen books in the past 10 years, and he and Thor recently finished their own successful Kickstarter campaign for the Torchbearer roleplaying game.
I'm sure there will be delays at the printer and shipping your rewards. That's just how it goes. But if you're patient with us, we'll have a sweet new book in your hand before long.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
