Hello everyone,

When you do not know where to start, it is or because things are hard to say, or because you do not control enough about it. In my case, the first reason is involved.

I'm really sorry for all those who believe in this project, but I'll have to stop not only this project but also FORGE.

The motivation of most people here has warmed our heart, a huge thank you!

This does not make our efforts most laudable but puts a little more sense. This new failure has tendencies to consolidate the world of distrust. Today, this campaign gives reason to the financiers not to continue, distributor to drape behind the big licenses, publishers to leverage the same things ...

We are the most connected generation, we are often interdependent, but paradoxically the most disillusioned. If only we could all understand that together we are stronger than the rules, we can have power over projects that are created. The great revolution is always to demonstrate!

So, of course we have made mistakes, we fumbled, tried, tried again. I will not explain here the choices we have made and why. Maybe it's not "like this" or not "like that" that ON MUST actually do. But the reality is more naughty than theory, and if we were to follow the "what you must do", then I can tell you that this project, or even his only attempt, would not exist.

We'll leave it primarily because we have a huge respect for the original Masterpiece “The horde of the counterwind”, as big as our desire to support independent projects or initiatives. This is too important to be able to continue without guarantee at least morally good management of your investment. And above all, I think of all the projects that come behind ours and that would be saddled with prejudices and would have any chance of success because we would not have met our commitments (the initiatives of others must be respected as much as ours.

Be aware that to let this kind of project exists in front of the industry, the only voices that count are yours. And today there is not enough craze for Windwalkers to deflects this trend.

I also want to greet all those who have been forgotten by technology, olds who should be far more respected and who came on the Internet to give a little help with this project. I wanted to thank you from my heart for your contribution. And thanks to all the others, for taking the time to do even a comment, for spreading the word about this project or even just for talking to a friend.

Finally, let me also tell you that I'm not bitter or disillusioned by all this, on the contrary, I now keep in the heart, not what we have failed but what we managed to do. We managed, while our experience was weak in some areas, to put a lot of resources on artists, on men and women who left this adventure or not, to bring together designers who work primarily for Hollywood or large groups, whatever they are Japanese, French, American and many others ... to participate in this universal vision that delivers “the Horde of the Counterwind”. We managed to dare to be ambitious in our goals, to develop holistically this universe without concessions.

So I can not be disappointed today that the adventure ends, but I will never regret having put all my resources in this endeavour. I would like to thank everyone who has contributed in any way to this adventure, but that message would become terribly long. Anyway, I know that these people won’t hate me for that. There are of course some special persons, who contributed more strongly, but they will recognize themselves. Although this is an emotional and material tsunami for me, this is not the end of my commitment here. I'm going to rest, to clear my ideas and leave with the experience points, and wisdom strength I have accumulated in recent years. I do not know what will become of the Horde, I hope that kindness will show the tip of its snout as Golgoth would say. Sometimes, there must be an end to let the beginning start…

I leave the last word to the great "Little Prince," as for me, the only thing I know now that I can share with you is that contrary to what we hear, we are not free from the time we can make choices, it is our choices that make us free ...

-----------------------------French version-------------------------------

Your effort was valiant. If one day I find myself in a capable position, and if you at that point still have the passion, I would gladly fund this project in its entirety. Maybe it would/wouldn't make a profit or even break even on the investment, but this project is a beautiful one. One that deserves to have life. I love the team here and all of the efforts of my fellow ambassadors. Good luck ex-forge members. In all of your endeavors.

Understandable, but oh, so disappointing. I pledged before I even knew what this was about, on the strength of your team designs, and only now I am laboriously working my way through the very original and interesting novel with all my poor high school French and my enthusiasm. I add my voice to the consideration that the fanbase for this work is not yet big enough, not existing in many markets yet. But even if you were early, I appreciate your good work and I am disappointed all the same. May you catch a better wind next time!

I'm sad and disappointed we could not lit the fire in Forge.
It was two beautiful campaigns, a great and worthy crossmedia project. Ambitious and different. Being different often means you need perseverance and a battle plan to achieve your goals.
I feel, like many, that the base - which is Damasio's excellent book - needs first to have been read by much more people. One year after a massmarket paperback & electronic publishing in English and a few other major languages would have been far more appropriate and may well have ensured the success here.
Damasio's writing in La Horde du Contrevent is something that could also be well recieved in modern China (if it can pass the censorship) as well as in Japan.

As such I feel the activity on KS was great and showed a strong positive response to the project.
Windwalkers may yet exists. But it has to have better footing first.

I hope the Forge may be rebuilt later.
Until then, I wish you all the best for your next ventures.

      many beautiful responses!
love seeing the community support on these projects :)
your literary close is full of meaning and heart....
and, yes, this is a new beginning!
first and foremost, take a lil time to clear the mind,
run through the gambit of emotions, and recover energy!
like the others, i agree that FORGE should continue,
perhaps a different path or a slight change of direction.
you achieved 50,000 euro! quite impressive and close to goal!
WindWalkers can still exist! though perhaps in a different form...
an 'cheaper' venture (more hand anime, less cgi)? episodic?
or smaller still, a large comic?
(see the success of other comics such as 'O.I.N.K')
food for thought... till then, keep us posted,
looking forward to your next venture!

I am both crushed and elated with this project. I've actually made some real connections here and can honestly say of the few projects I've had a hand in this was the most fun!

What sold me was seeing the level of passion your team has for the development of the Windwalkers universe. You had the unlucky timing of trying to get funded at the same time as E3 was coming on the scene. 4 huge video games. Bloodstained (highest funded video game at 5.5 mil), Bards Tale IV (2 mil) , Yooka-Laylee (around 3 mil) & Shenmue 3 (2 mil in 9 hours). These tapped into a lot of people extra income before they found out about WW. What did not get put into those games was set aside for vacation time. Everyone I have spoken with loves your project but have nothing left to give after the games and family time. Despite their big starts even Shenmue 3 & Bards Tale have slowed down now that E3 is over and people are focused on summer events. If you had come out 2-3 months later you would have no problem getting funded and very little competition. Hopefully you reconsider calling it quits and try again around Sep-Oct. No matter what you decide I wish you and your team the best in your future endeavors.

    11. Philippe Proteau on

Honestly, this is not a failure. It is only a setback. Many projects have failed once and came back.

Several have failed a second time and base a come back.

What I see here is that your followers have increased from the first project to the second. Why you ask? because you reached out to two different communities.

Don't close Forge. See this as an opportunity to get more visibility and launch these two projects a second time.

Even better, why not go with the third phase: the comic book. I suspect that the cost of producing the comic books is less expensive than the movies or the game and it would allow you to reach even more people and attack them to the other two projects and, if successful, could help fund the other two. But I am not in those worlds so the cost to produce is not something I am familiar with and I could be wrong.

But don't despair... What you have here is a core following that will be there and promote La Horde. I am certain that you will see many many names in both projects.

      Please keep the project alive!

      phil.

I would say try and try again. For every time more and more people will hear about it.
I sent you a message telling you about another project called the MikMe that was not able to successfully fund their campaign here on Kickstarter. They had another 6 months promoting their product and then launched another campaign this time on Indiegogo. Today they are far above their initial goal with many days left.

The trick here is getting the right promotion.
I e-mailed Roberts Space Industries the maker of the game Star Citizen and they liked the project.

Windwalkers is a very interesting project. Contact various Sci Fi sites and get their feedback. Continue building the momentum you have going here on Kickstarter. You have over a 1000 people on your mailing list. Use it for your next forward push... I know I am ready, and so are likely the rest who have contributed.

Windwalkers is about not giving up but fighting against and finding ways to work with the wind in getting forward. You should do the same.

I have tried to support you from the very first campaign of the idea for the game. I have seen all the ups and downs.
I am sorry to hear that the companies and big funders will now not fund you but please.
For the sake of the hoard, please try again.
I have faith that you guys can pull this off, because all the research, design, and ideas that has gone into these projects are incredible, they are amazing, and it is just superb.

Those higher ups do not know what they are missing out on.

Thank you for all of your hard work and I hope to see you guys trying once again in the (hopefully near) future!!
