INSIDE THE CODEX PART II: RESEARCH ON EVOLUTION UNDER STRONG WINDS
WINDWALKERS takes place on a wind-world; a world forged by the wind; a wind of unimaginable violence blowing eternally from east to west, sweeping inexorably across. Between to glaciated poles, on a central band of earth swept and polished by the winds, life emerged and learned to adapt. All the Fauna, flora, architecture, and even human morphology, has evolved.
From the troglodytic megalopolis of Aberlaas on the Lower-Slopes to the suspended city of Alticcio at the border of the known world, life has developed in order to resist the wind. For centuries, in the capital of Aberlaas, the Horder has trained elite groups to climb windward; to push the limits of the known world, and discover the origin of the wind. Certain peoples confront the wind as the Phraces do, others, like the Freons, make use of it, and still others, like the Sheltered, simply try to protect themselves from its effects.
