Stretch Goal Achieved! We now have an upgraded Slim EDC Card available for pledges. It's made with even stronger CPM 3V Blade Steel, and has a state of the art zirconium nitride PVD coating. 1.6mm Thick vs. regular EDC Card = 2.4mm thick.
I think we've all had a moment where we wish we had a tool for a specific job right in front of us. We usually have to dig around a tool box to find it, and it normally isn't a tool we'd want to carry around with us.
Inspired by high-end outdoor/military knives, the Everyday Carry Card follows the EDC credo of usefulness, minimalism, quality, and high versatility—all in a handheld package that consumes little space.

CPM S35VN Blade Steel.
We use military grade S35VN stainless blade steel, specifically designed for edge retention and superior strength.
Why Not Titanium?
While titanium is a strong material, it's considerably softer than S35VN and we believe that it isn't the right choice for this type of tool. We wanted the EDC Card to be as small as possible. S35VN brings the perfect amount of strength, heft, durability, and edge retention to a tool this size.
When I set out to design a multi-tool, I strived for something that was unique—a minimalist approach, a high amount of versatility, and a focus on durability. I was inspired by high end military/outdoor oriented knives. After research and consulting with various industry professionals, I chose what I believe to be the best materials and methods for this type of tool—the first of it's kind to be manufactured with maximum versatility and high quality S35VN blade steel. I found an excellent small batch manufacturer, right here in Cleveland, Ohio to take on the task. I received the first test batch made with S35VN in June. The result surpassed my expectations.
30+ functions are built into the size of a credit card with no drawbacks to it's compact size. It's a real tool you can rely on at a moments notice, with no gimmicks attached.

- ACHIEVED! $25,000 - EDC Card Slim: a slim version at 1.6mm thick, with upgraded blade steel: CPM 3V, with a Zirconium Nitride PVD coating.
CPM 3V is another blade steel that is even tougher than CPM S35VN, with the caveat that it is not a stainless steel. But this is remedied with a state of the art PVD coating or: physical vapor deposition.
PVD coating is so tough that is it actually harder than the steel its self, and will protect against almost anything you can throw at it. Zirconium Nitride coating is a light golden sand color. shown below.
Everything is almost in place. We've created the first test run and strongly believe that the EDC Card has now met and exceeded our original vision.
Now we need your help to introduce our multi-tool card to a full production run, so that we may produce these at a practical and affordable price point! Pledges will enable us to purchase materials, fund labor costs, and pay for all manufacturing processes.
If we're able to acquire sufficient funding, we'll begin production as soon as this Kickstarter project closes. Our goal is to get these into your hands for the 2014 holiday season.
About Cha-O-Ha Design Co.
"Cha-O-Ha" is derived from the Lakota Native American language. It means, to be among the trees, or at one with nature. We specialize in handmade, utilitarian wearables. At CHA / O / HA Design Co., we exhibit particularity in design and detail and use the best quality, hardest-working unique materials. Our goods are intended for everyday wear and functionality.
We started by making hand-crafted para-cord bracelets, and trying to innovate and elevate within that niche. The idea for the EDC card came to pass a year and a half ago. We've been researching and developing the idea with our friend, Tofty, ever since. This project is the culmination of all the hard work and thought that went into this product.

Risks and challenges
Every project comes with its own risks, but we've already completed the first test run of EDC cards, and as I said, the result surpassed my expectations. We have full confidence in the methods and materials used in manufacturing—CNC machining, advanced methods of heat treat, and the use of cutting/etching high powered lasers.
We have assured the best quality methods and materials to bring this to completion in a timely and professional manner. Our manufacturer has been in business for 23 years. Through our test run, we've come to expect an efficient production run by our goal completion date.
We have full confidence in the abilities of our manufacturers, as well as full dedication from myself. This project, as well as Cha-O-Ha Design Co., is my full time endeavour, so I'm greatly motivated to ensure this project's successful completion, for my supporters, as well as myself.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
