Gramofon + Qualcomm® AllPlay™ Update

Dear Kickstarter backers,

it’s been a little over one year since 4,883 backers helped to bring the Gramofon to life. Once again, thanks to all of you for your support.

In August 2014 we began shipping the original Gramofon to the Kickstarter community who backed us. The original Gramofon supported Spotify and WahWah and we promised our users that we would continue to innovate and add great features and functionality to Gramofon by way of ongoing software updates. We told you of our plan to integrate Qualcomm® AllPlay™ technology to Gramofon and that AllPlay™ would open up a new world of possibilities for Gramofon users.

As many of you already know on May 1st 2015 we officially launched the AllPlay™ Gramofon.

In addition to Spotify Premium, Gramofon now supports all the other music-streaming services on the AllPlay™ platform, including Napster, Rhapsody, TuneIn, Aupeo, Wahwah, doubleTwist and Soma FM. More services will be added to AllPlay™ over time, and each will be compatible with the Gramofon – the likes of Jay Z’s TIDAL, SoundCloud and iHeart Radio are all coming soon. Simply open your favourite music streaming service app and hit play.

AllPlay isn’t just about streaming music via internet-based services; it enables you to play music stored locally on your smartphone, tablet or computer, too. With AllPlay you are now able to send music from your handset or tablet (Android or iOS) directly to your speakers. But not only that; you can also discover the music on your computer using your handset and send it to the Gramofon too, no matter if you use a MAC or a PC; all you need is a DLNA server and the AllPlay™ Jukebox or doubleTwist apps.

Gramofon with AllPlay™ also adds nifty multi-room functionality – if you have several audio systems around your home, simply connect a Gramofon to each one, and add them to your WiFi network. Via the AllPlay app, you can choose to play music in just one room, or different music in several rooms, or synchronise your Gramofons so they all play the same music – perfect for house parties!

Your Gramofon already has the AllPlay Software update. Make sure to download the AllPLay Jukebox and the AllPlay Radio apps from the iTunes App Store or Google Play to experience Gramofon with AllPlay™

AllPlay™ Radio

Powered by TuneIn. Over 100,000 real radio stations and more than four million podcasts from all over the world. Sports, news, music and talk radio all powered by TuneIn.

AllPlay™ Jukebox

Connect to multiple Gramofons and other compatible devices, choose audio sources, create playlists, select connected speakers for playback and stream audio wirelessly to any or all available Gramofons in standard, multi-zone, or party mode configurations

Order an extra Gramofon if you want to discover the possibilities of Gramofon with multi-room on

We could not have got to where we are today without your help. Thanks for being a part of the journey.

Yours in music

The Gramofon team.

Allplay Demo + Changes in setup and functionality

Hi All,

We wanted to take this opportunity to share a feature we are very excited about and that you have all been waiting for: AllPlay! Below is a brief video showing you how the device will work when AllPlay is released. We are working really hard to get this out and aim to have it available for Kickstarter backers by January 1st. Enjoy!

Pretty cool right? We’re as excited as you are :D

In case you didn’t get a chance to check out the video, here is a list of the AllPlay perks:

  • Stream music from different services including: Aupeo, Double Twist, iHeartRadio, Rhapsody, soma fm, napster, tunein, and more to come!
  • Play the same music in multiple rooms through all your Gramofon’s OR, if you’re roommates, wife, kids whoever is around isn’t pleased with your jams, switch to multi-zone to play different music in every room.
  • Stream the music located on your Android and iOS devices.

We also wanted to share a couple of important Gramofon updates:

We will be manually disabling the Fon service for those of you who do not want it. Although its sad for us to see you leave the Fon network, we understand that you love the Gramofon for its seamless music experience, and don’t necessarily want to share your WiFi in when you use it.

For those of you that want to disable the Fon service, please reach out to us at with the MAC address of your unit (this is located on the underside of the device).

Keep in mind that this is a permanent removal of the Fon service.

Apps are being revamped for clarity. We realized that the current app setup is a little convoluted, so we are renaming the “Gramofon” app to “WahWah for Gramofon” and the Fon Utility app to “Gramofon Setup”. Designs are also improving - the Gramofon Setup app is coming out this week with a fancy new look and feel.

Moving away from Kickstarter. Kickstarter has been a fun ride, especially with your guys having our back, but its time for us to move on and open up new communication channels. We have therefore just setup our social media pages - Facebook and Twitter. We are no longer going to be sending out updates through the Kickstarter page, so make sure to follow us on our channels or email us at if you have any questions.

Finally, we wanted to thank you for all the feedback you have given us. New products are a mystery until they enter the market, and it is thanks to wonderful people like you that enough information is collected so we can improve what we’ve built. We could not have done it without you :).

Also, we have heard our backers and have published a list of the most common bugs, you can find them here. We are working to iron out all the kinks as quickly as possible and would like to thank you for your patience with any issues.

For those that have not connected their units yet, here are the set up instructions again and here are a set of tutorial videos:
