Our Wisconsin Lake Pepin communities are once again producing a film to be shown at this year's Flyway Film Festival.
"River Road Romance" is the second film produced, directed, acted and crewed by the citizens of the Lake Pepin area, Great River Road communities of Wisconsin's "West Coast".
Each year in October, our area hosts the Flyway Film Festival which showcases independent films, both short and feature length, from around the world.
Last year the organizers of the Flyway Film Festival asked the community if we would be interested in producing a short film to kick off the festival. We jumped at the chance!
Our first film, Dinner at the Lake, was scripted by local author Mary Logue. We learned a lot with that project. Even though all of our actors and crew were community volunteers, and the majority of props and locations were donated, we realized that a certain amount of funding was absolutely necessary.
For this year's film, also written by Mary Logue, we plan to rent a higher quality camera, with lights, dolly, and sound equipment to match. Music & post-production costs will also add up.
That's where you come in. We need your support! Our production is modest, and so is our funding goal. We have the drive, talent and goodwill of the community. Please join us in making this project a success!
Risks and challenges Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
Any film project is risky business! By using volunteer actors, director and crew, we are able to control costs in a manner not available to most productions. We feel that we have a depth of available talent in that no aspect of this project is dependent on any one person.
