SEE OUR UPDATES! YET MORE MUSIC! LEAD SHEET EXAMPLE! LYRICS!
The songs started as entertainment for adults and smart kids, a satirical counterpoint to the fluffy guff that's so often passed off as kids' songs. They are fun to sing, easy to play too, sufficiently gross to satisfy the bloodthirsty urges of children, entertaining and, seriously, quite correct despite the occasionally over-the-top approach. Honesty in children's songs, a new thing in the world!
It's not all sweetness and light and tree-hugs out there in the Wonderful Ecological World, oh no! So here's the start of a re-education in ecological reality for you!
Explore the murderous wooden hearts of trees! Learn the real reason for the decline of Fairy Penguins! Find your place on the Food Chain! There's an architecturally-acclaimed how-to blend your house with nature!
But wait!! There's more!
Why the parenting failures of wild ducks don't matter so much! Or a low-down view of the wonder of birds! Even sage advice to the Young on venturing away from screens!
There should be parental guidance in anything like this because it's satire and may need explaining, and it's not for young children. Smart kids and adults, yes. That said, there's no profanity or overt/covert sexual innuendo anywhere, but I know from gigs that some adults find the content challenging, because it's not the view of Nature they'd like to have.
This Make/100 kickstarter aims to get out amongst you, the select and discerning audience, a super EP (properly manufactured and packed) of ten ecologically correct and very subversive songs, dressed up as lo-fi Folk.

They're simple songs, easily played and sung. The backing on the recordings is either jaunty and lo-fi ukulele--what can possibly go wrong with a ukulele backing?--or more upmarket piano. All the songs are playable/singable with uke or guitar backing. Most have catchy choruses good for group singing.
Satire it truly is, but...it's all TRUE, folks! And truth is always subversive.

fun! life's truths are hard to take sometimes (especially for kids (and the kid inside of us), but you make it light and fluffy! (Phlex)
. Your songs will help kids connect with the realities of life in a way they used to be connected to. My hat is off, sir. (wickedmessenger1)
:-) Beaming with pure joy, listening to this. Again, great series! (Postcard Helicopters)
Twisted but ecologically correct as you have pointed out. :P A brilliant catchy chorus and tune overall! Nice and energetic. (Taylor Tay)
Love it! So bouncy and cute - and yet informative! You mean seals and penguins don't hang out and play together? Who knew? :) (Michelle McKibbon)
Fun, educational, sing-along sound; what more could we ask for? Nice job! (Tom Hitt)
So sing-songy perfect! I love it. I love your gritty voice in this. It makes it even better cause you really go all out it. You're selling this one..! (Valerie Cox)
Holy flying kumquats, that closing chorus had me laughing out loud with tears in my eyes!!! This song is all kinds of wonderful... (crispy)
Love it! The structure is so kid friendly, and how can you go wrong with a song that ends with splinters and pus? Reminds me of my childhood. (Robyn's Dad)
Your song tickles as it terrifies. It's a lesson that must be learned. Your liner notes really struck me, in that someone must decide when not to be heroically foolish and let others suffer their own choices. I'm glad that somber gravity can be set aside for the sake of this wickedly good cautionary tale. (Barbara)

Risks and challenges
The songs are all written and currently recorded. All recordings will need re-mastering and one or two should be re-recorded to improve the clarity. This is no big deal because I use my own studio in Dunn's Mill (1844) but it does require a few days.
These songs are and will stay intentionally simple and lo-fi, in keeping with the concept. Lo-fi does not mean crap recording, but the ordinary singer (me) is not a drawback here. If worried, go listen to Flying Tadpole on Spotify, okay?
Actual production of physical CDs and their delivery will be contracted out to the service I have used and found totally reliable and trouble-free for the 6 CDs I've issued through them over the past five or six years. The digital delivery components I normally do myself, either through dropbox, bandcamp.com or direct delivery through email where necessary.
Proper lead sheets exist for half the songs: it will take some time to complete the remaining lead sheets (which is basically why the March 2018 delivery date. The audio alone could otherwise have been sorted by late February 2018)
There is always the possibility of Life getting in the way, or an irately vengeful tree falling on me, but other than that there are no real risks here, and the product is almost all in existence already. Which is, of course, why the low target!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
