Final Kickstarter Update

Hello Backers, Supporters and Eon Altar Fans,

The Eon Altar Kickstarter has not trended as well as we had hoped, and based on our current progress we will not come close to hitting our targets. Today we will be cancelling our campaign and shift our focus to other strategies to get us into production as fast as possible!

Over the past weeks we have worked tirelessly to drive more attention to the Kickstarter Campaign, including reaching out to the journalists who have supported us in the past. We've had many great articles written about Eon Altar and have been invited onto podcasts. We have also tried to drive traffic as much as we can to raise our 'popularity' on Kickstarter and help more people see our amazing project! The unfortunate truth is that people are simply not seeing our project and none of our strategies will be able to rally people quick enough to get us where we need to be. As a studio, we have decided to focus on other ways to get this game moving as soon as possible! We love Kickstarter, and have seen it do amazing things for other projects, and whether it's something about this project, the way we are presenting it, or just trying to get press at the same time as PS4 and XboxOne launch, it's just not working for us at this time.

What does this mean for Eon Altar? We're not stopping! Some of you may have read that if the Kickstarter doesn't turn out well, we'll be forced to change a lot of our designs to work with a publisher. Well, we're still working hard not to have to do that. We have other investment opportunities, and other ways of closing up the budget to start. None of them would be as favorable in terms as working with you all here on Kickstarter, but there are still some great options. While the game may not look exactly like what we're pitching here, we think it will be something pretty close!

How can you continue to be involved? We'll continue to update about Eon Altar as we go, both on our website and our Facebook page, FlyingHelmetGames. We'll keep you all posted as we progress, and let you know of all the events we'll be at, as well as any upcoming Beta Tests, and we can all continue our conversations there in the Facebook Page Messages! And if we do a new Kickstarter campaign, you'll be the first to hear of it!

You can also join our mailing list and stay informed via our monthly production updates. send us an email at info@flyinghelmetgames.com with the subject line 'Updates,' with your basic contact info, name and preferred email address.

We'd love to hear your feedback about the campaign. What you liked, what you didn't, what you thought went well, and what we could do better if we go back to Kickstarter. Please share! We're also working on a cool new video of our Demo Gameplay that we'll try to get out to you all soon!

So thank you all for your amazing support and your efforts and spreading the word as far and wide as you did. We couldn't have gotten as far as we did without you all, and it lets us know that this game is worth finishing!

Thank you from all of us at Flying Helmet Games,

Sincerely,

Edward J Douglas,
Creative Director & Co-Founder

Is there really a point in canceling? Do you get penalized? Why not just let it run it's course and see what happens?

So sorry to learn what might've been, over the next 20 days. I'm not clear on how Kickstarter works beyond basic understanding, by I've seen much lesser projects maintain hope until the very last minute. Regardless, I you'll find your funding support to see this project through. It's definitely something I look forward to and I'll certainly purchase, should out come to fruition. Some successful Kickstarters continued funding in their personal websites, via paypal donations or the like. Is that something that's being considered or has something like that been already implemented?

KickStarter can be an awesome funding platform, but it's highly driven by peoples valued interest. It seems that most tabletop games just don't drive the interest as much as games like Project Eternity. It is a shame because personally I feel that we need to create interest of getting people together to game again rather than by themselves playing only one... which is also fun too :)

      Hi Kevin and Jalyn,

We're definitely not giving up, just re-strategizing! At the moment it makes most sense to refocus on some other opportunities we have, rather than riding this out. It's the decision that we think has the best chance of getting this game made as soon, and as best possible! Believe me, it wasn't a decision taken lightly, or without attention to paid to a significant amount of data, including projects like Golem Arcana mentioned below.

We're not going anywhere, just not continuing here for the moment!

Thanks so much for your support, and let's keep the Eon Altar conversations continuing on our FB group, email and, hopefully soon, forums over at www.flyinghelmetgames.com! We'll also be transferring a lot of the current and future Kickstarter update content over there! (and the FHG Team's Game Jam project from this past weekend!)

I am really sorry to hear this. I wonder about dropping it this soon, as well. I would love to use your system. I hope for the best.

Don't abandon hope with 20 days left on the campaign! Many games found their funding footing the last week leading up to the end day, the best example being Golem Arcana which it looked like would never get funded then in the last 2 days managed to receive $200,000 backing. You still have almost 3 weeks left. Just keep trying.
