This first week has been pretty crazy! While it’s been slow to start, we have a lot of great stories breaking this week, and with your continued support, we hope to drive interest in Eon Altar even further.
Last night Nerd's Domain invited Creative Director Ed Douglas and Lead Designer Scott Penner to talk about the project and the campaign! We talk about our background, what it's like to design a 'Tabletop Videogame,' long term plans with the world of Eon Altar and our Level Editor stretch goal, and some of our fantastic rewards!

Wondering how you can help? Give us feedback and ask questions - just click the comment tab at the top of our page and leave a comment. You can also spread the word by letting your friends, family, colleagues, and coworkers know about the awesome project that you have backed. We’ve had quite a few questions this week about our digital tiers, especially at the $25 level, so let’s look at them a bit closer:
One copy of the $25 Vanguard tier is all any gaming group needs to be able to play the game.
Backing us at the $25 level gets you all 9 Adventures on your PC or Tablet Device. These adventures each have 3+ playable Sessions, which adds up to a lot of fun! If we release any bonus content in the future, you’ll get this too. All five players can download Eon Altar on their personal device for free, and connect to the Tablet Device.
We will be releasing bonus content for the player devices (non-essential but fun DLC,) which the $25 backer will also receive on his/her device as it becomes available. Even though your friends don’t have to pay anything to play, you should still encourage them to chip in for pizza, to bring drinks, and as always, to please back us!
We are happy to announce iOS support for our $125 Scout tier. This beta test will allow a Scout level backer to deploy beta builds on up to 6 devices (1 Tablet plus 5 Handsets) on any combination of supported platforms.
With this added support of iOS we are now also increasing our backer limit on the scout tier to 100. Early access beta will allow groups to play the game before it is released. After the initial release you will also gain access new Adventures weeks before they become available to the public. During this time you will also be able to have special communication with our testing team, providing comments and feedback on features, content, and ideas.
At the $250 Blacksmith tier, you will create an item, and be able to start the game with your very own custom designed item.
We'll let you choose from any of our existing item art, including weapons, armor pieces, potions, rings, etc. You'll give the item its name, backstory/description, and work with our designers to give it unique statistics and function. You'll work from a loose template, but we'll welcome your creativity and do what we can within our game to help you realize your vision. Every player will be able to find this trinket on their journey, but we'll give you a code so you can have it right away and show it off to your friends.
How many copies of the game do I need to play?
Only the shared device requires purchased Adventure content, all 5 player devices can download and connect for free. At the $25 tier, you'll have access to ALL Adventure content, as well as all special player content we release, on both devices.
Your friends won't need to purchase anything (but we'll appreciate if you encourage them to back us anyways!) We think of this like the tabletop Dungeon Master, who might buy a few books, photocopy some character sheets, and invite friends over to play.
What Size of device is best for the Central Tablet?
We're working to optimize the Central Tablet for a spectrum of tablet sizes. Even though we've shown the game on large, Windows 8 all-in-ones, we've actually done most of our testing on iPad and iPad Mini.
Can I use a TV as the Central Tablet?
We're working on a feature we call 'Couch Mode'. We will support Windows PC (including laptops), allowing players to sit back and enjoy the game from a monitor, TV, or Miracast, and from iPad using Airplay!
Our friends at Mesa Mundi also have conversion kits available that transform almost any TV into a multi-touch device.
