For those asking, my most recent production update earlier this week in the comments section still stands. Still on track.

      Here it is:

I've been in rural Chengdu at the factory for the last 4 weeks working on production and overcoming numerous hurdles that have come along. In this time, I've reformulated and upgraded ingredients to improve the product -which has had a long lead time for approval due to the factory's stringent QA processes. These include: changing the source and ratios of chili pepper and Sichuan pepper to optimize fragrance, flavor and luster, improving the source for fermented black bean and rapeseed oil to the best available on the market, removing sugar completely from the formula without compromising its deep flavor, as well as introducing and training the factory to scale two brand new products from scratch (Zhong Dumpling and Mala Spice Mix). I'm happy to report that we've been producing the sauces throughout the last two weeks, and will be finishing the final batches on Monday. Product cost has increased but I prioritize quality, and I am proud to say that the products tastes even better than before and am excited to share them with you guys.

What remains to be finished this week is bottling and labeling - this was another major hurdle to overcome since the sauces require hand-filling as machine filling would damage the consistency of the product. After some difficulty, I was able to find a facility with the capacity to hand-fill tens of thousands of units, and if all goes to plan, this will be completed by next week. The new labels are stunning but extremely difficult to print due to its vibrant colors and complex gradients, which stands out and detracts imitators, but also means a long lead time to production. This is slated to complete in time for bottling.

There's also been the ups and downs of navigating several large and complex Chinese enterprises and their internal politics, which I've faced daily and won't go into.

The toughest part is almost over. When all is bottled and packaged, the products need to be inspected by the Chinese government for export (a week), delivered to port of Shanghai (3-4 days), where it will begin its journey to the US (2-4 weeks), pass US customs (hopefully less than a week), delivered to the fulfillment centre (2-3 days) where it will be shipped out almost immediately after (US ~2 days, International varies).

So as of now, we are still on track for shipping within the month of November.

Please reach out directly if you have any questions specific to your order.
