The FT Aviator is a durable, premium grade, quick-to-assemble drone flight controller consisting of a joystick, a base and a smartphone holder.

The FT Aviator precisely enables the four degrees of freedom of flight applicable to drones: forward and backward (X-axis), left and right (Y-axis), up and down (Z-axis) and turning left and right (Yaw).

Tips from Scott: How to Fly with the FT Aviator
The FT Aviator is compatible with most DJI drones* and leverages the native DJI transmitter-receiver radio, which is considered very secure, with frequency hopping and other security measures.
*Current compatibility includes Mavic Series, Phantom 3 & 4, Inspire 1 & 2, and Matrice Series. We will continue to work on compatibility with other DJI models as our technology and the DJI Air Force grows.
How FT Aviator works with DJI
1.) Bluetooth connection from FT Aviator to the smartphone app, with return telemetry for display, LED status lights, etc.
2.) Wired smartphone app connection to the DJI radio (Micro-USB, Lightning, USB C), with return video and telemetry.
3.) Radio transmission of command and control from DJI radio to drone, with return data telemetry.

Prototyping is the most fun part of the innovation process, and usually involves cobbling together duct tape, balsa wood and spare parts! In the case of our first pre-FT Aviator models – cleverly named “v1” and “v2” – we had a good idea of the general shape and basic mechanical features we wanted, so we churned out dozens of 3-D prints to get to the refined form factor and functionality we have now. We teamed with brilliant engineers at Motivo Engineering, Spark Aerial and Innovate, LLC to apply a lot of human factors know-how, and to dial in all of our advanced features into the product.
Risks and challenges
Over the past 2 years and countless prototypes, we've engineered and ironed out bugs, and we now have a functional pre-production FT Aviator. We’ve completed our design-for-manufacture reviews, and we have locked our mechanical and electrical designs for production. We’re about to begin “cutting steel” for our injection molding tools, and have begun sourcing the myriad electronics components for our circuit boards.
Fluidity Tech will begin production of the first lot of FT Aviators at the conclusion of this campaign. As with the release of any product, there may be unforeseen obstacles that could prevent us from getting certain elements of the product just right. We are selective in how we choose our partners, conservative in setting our timelines, and intend to spend a large amount of time in person on the factory floor. As we strive to provide you with the ultimate and safe user experience, we would not feel comfortable shipping any product until it is perfect, so there is always the possibility of a delay in product release.
We will do our utmost to keep you updated on any and all FT Aviator-related developments, and we’ll work tirelessly to fix significant product issues before the official release of the FT Aviator.
