FloodHounds New Music Fundraiser
Hi, Jack here, singer/guitarist of FloodHounds. We’ve been working really hard to develop the best music we’ve created to date, but we need your help to raise the funds to record with a producer, mix, master and promote the new songs. In return, we've got some fun rewards, and we can hopefully give an insight into how we develop our music.
The New Songs
Earlier this year, we worked on two new tunes, Something Primeval and Out of Time. We’re so proud of these new tracks. We tried them out in our live set where they got a mad reception. As a result we've thought long and hard about how we're going to record them to give them their best shot at living up to their potential. So we've sought out the producer who we think is going to be a perfect fit for these songs.
We’re a DIY band. We do almost everything in house.
Every penny we make goes straight back into developing the band and financing gig travel. We’ve been playing as many live shows as we can across the UK which has taken us to festivals like Isle of Wight, Liverpool Sound City, Brighton Alternative Escape this year, even to Supersonic in Paris, as well as gigs up and down the country supporting the likes of The Blinders, Calva Louise, BlackWaters, Childcare, Avalanche Party and Demob Happy; all of whom are influential bands for FloodHounds.
Unfortunately these gigs can often cost more money than they make. So while we want to keep up the live show momentum we have been building, we are keenly aware we need to make the same improvements in our recorded music. We need to really focus on getting the best possible recordings of what are potentially the two most promising songs we've created to date. That means investing more studio time for each track, and to do that while we keep the live shows going, we need your help.
We're extremely proud of our previous recordings and we've been lucky to work with some fantastic producers in the past. As we listened to our favourite new bands, one producer’s name kept cropping up. We won’t tell you who it is just yet, but watch this space for more clues as our crowdfunding unfolds. He’s done great things for bands we admire, and we are confident that we can take our songs and the band to the next level.
When will it happen and what will it cost
- To head to the studio in August,
- Release the first track in Autumn 2019
- Release the second track in Feb next year
The crowdfunding will cover:
- Two days per track - totalling Four days in Studio
- Followed by Mixing & Mastering
- Any excess will go promotion
We’d be overjoyed to make our target but we’d also really appreciate anything extra we can put towards promotion. We do all our artwork and videos in house, but having the opportunity for extra promotion would really help us get our music out there.
Thanks so much for reading and supporting us. I hope you like the sound of our project and want to get involved. We'll be updating this page with new videos and photos as we go. We have some really cool unique rewards for our crowdfunders like:
- A 'Box Head' prop from our Wide Awake Video. See photo below!
- Private Acoustic gigs, live in your own house!
- The chance to record some backing vocals new song 'Out Of Time'
- A disposable camera used at the studio sessions, with the printed photos that only you will see

Risks and challenges
We can only hope that the recording turns out how we visualised it, and that people like it.
However we’ve worked hard in the practice room and trialled the songs live and people seem to be enjoying them so far, so we are confident in these songs and this producer / studioLearn about accountability on Kickstarter
