You could say that...we were both thinking the game felt a bit lacking :)
Glad to hear it, Mark! I bet those first 2 games went pretty fast at least, hehe.
Finally played this tonight with my buddy, it was a lot of fun! The first 2 games weren't right since dummy me read the rules wrong and we only played 1 turn per round. Needless to say the first 2 games were lacking a bit!
Just wanted to let you know Ben that we both have loved it so far!
yeah was unusual with people going, Hey you are one of these characters! I actually received shipment earlier (a few weeks ago) but was out of country and had notice to pay custom duties when I returned before they delivered box. Only got chance to play it yesterday and loved it. More importantly, local UK games dealer loved it too so am hoping you will get your UK/Europe distributing sorted via my email. Good luck!
@Chooi That took a while, hope you enjoy playing as your own character!
Got my game, thanks. will be trying it out Sunday :)
@Mark Thanks! Glad you like it!
@Terence yes, that's the right count!
I pledged at the $40 level. I got 2 antibiotics, 2 universities, 2 satellites, 3 art,1 banking, 1 KS and 1 GenCon. Are those the right amounts?
I got mine the other day and I must say everything looks great. Even the bonus rewards were far superior to my expectations, I can't wait to play it!
All backer rewards have been sent as of Monday 8/27, please let me know if in a week or so (maybe longer for international?) if you haven't yet received your rewards!
Mine arrived today (east coast U.S.)! Thanks, and good luck going forward!
has overseas shipping begun?
@ Richard - You can always tell if the survey has gone out or not by scrolling down the rewards list on the right of every page on the project's site until you get to your reward level. If the surveys have gone out--as these have--It will say, at the bottom of the reward description, "Survey Sent: [Date] _Your Response_" Click on Your Response and it'll tell you how you responded to the survey.
@Richard, I sent the surveys a long time ago, and even started sending out some rewards already... could I have you send me a message please?
Did we get the survey for this yet? I can't remember.
FINALLY! I'm back, with a full shipment of games in hand! I've started working through sending out KS backer rewards and will continue to as much as I can before heading off to Gen Con. Those that are left will be going out early next week!
The shipment is in Chicago now, but not scheduled to be delivered until Wednesday. In light of this I'll likely be picking them up on Monday and driving them back instead. If that all goes according to plan, I'll send out as many backers as I can before heading off to Gen Con on Wednesday; all others will go out as soon as I return. (August 21st). Wow, this is close!
Just re-watched the review on The Dice Tower...getting really excited to finally play this!
Cool deal! I have my fingers crossed that we'll get the game before GenCon!
Not yet, however I did get en email saying they cleared customs! Now, more waiting... I have a mountain of empty boxes ready to be filled!
Awesome! Did they arrive today?
Quick update: The games are going through customs clearance now, and (pending no hold up there) are scheduled to arrive August 8th!
From what I know, pretty good. I believe the ship arrived in the US on Saturday afternoon. I sent an email out to the shipping company to get an explicit update, but havent heard back yet. I received an early air shipment (to ensure I at least had enough to demo at Gen Con) and there were no issue with customs there; I'm hopeful the same is true for the rest. I'll post a full update in about a week when (hopefully) stuffing boxes is underway!
I do have all the shipping materials scheduled for delivery this friday (325 boxes, 100 tubes and a whole mess of packing peanuts). Printing for the artist prints will be completed tomorrow, and signing will be done shortly after. Same goes for the Custom Influence Pool cards (which were fantastic to read through, looks like a lot of you had fun with it!). In short, everything is lining up to send them out to you as soon as they arrive!
How are we looking for delivery - any more details available Ben?
The shipment is on its way to me and everything appears to be on time for early August delivery. I should know more in the coming weeks!
Ben - any updates on shipping status - to you and then to us? :)
@Ben - thanks for doing my homework *and*, in the spirit of "Back to the Future," giving me time to copy it into my "handwriting" :-) I have just enough Spanish to be peligroso, so "Ire, ..." from Google looked reasonable to me for imperatives - "Go, see, etc." But now I'm liking your perfect infinitives. Good thing @BenHarkins said "couple of weeks" last week; I just future Antiquetect (profiteer?) "me" arrives soon to tell me what I will decided (sic) :-)
@Bob Oh, eo, my oldest foe! I like using the present infinitives to define a motto, however there is also something appropriate about a perfect tense description of what you intend to do in a game about altering the past. To that end, might I suggest the perfect infinitive versions of your mottos? (I admit, I had to look up the conjugation on eo... I hate that word so much)
ivisse, vidisse, duxisse - To have gone, to have seen, to have guided
ivisse, duxisse, vicisse - To have gone, to have guided, to have conquered
Thanks, @Ben! 'Course any of the alternatives lose Caesar's alliteration :-(
Maybe I'm getting close the Antiquetect's code/motto - "Ire, Videre, Ducere" ?
Or the profiteers' - "Ire, Ducere, Vincere" ?
Or I'm just over-thinking this... :-)
And I made the same mistake you did....
End result SHOULD BE: Veni, Vidi, Duxi
@Bob It's been a few years since my last Latin class, but I think "Veni, vidi, duxi" would be a better fit. (note that the second word is vidi:I saw, not vici:I defeated)
If you want to stick with commoveo, then the right form is "commovi," but I think duco is a better fit. Commoveo is con+moveo. Con means together (a CONvention is when people veno(go, as in "veni") to a place together) and moveo is to move. So commoveo is lots of things moving together. It has more violent connotations. An earthquake does this to the ground.
Duco (from which we get duke, obviously) is a subtler word which I think is closer to the feel of the game. It means not just to influence, but to lead, which I think fits with the game as well.
End result: Veni, Vici, Duxi
With inspiration from Scott, I'm thinking around "veni, vici, commoveri" ("I came, I saw, I influenced" - at least that's what Google tells me :-) )
Any time within the next couple weeks. The Influence Pool cards are going to be printed locally on a digital offset, so I don't need a huge amount of lead time. The earliest shipment is looking to be early to mid-august.
I kind of like:
Carpe Diem Pro Legatum (Seize The Day For Your Legacy)
I also like the 1984 quote, so how about: Controlling the Past = My Future
Ben - what is the deadline for getting you our custom wording and shipping info in order to make first possible shipment?
Scott, those are some great suggestions!
If anyone needs to bump a little over the 20 characters, that shouldn't be a problem at all.
I also like the (abbreviated) quotes concept (a few >20 characters hoping this will give some):
Ripples in Time
The Butterfly House
Make the Most of Time
Time Stays, We Go
Time for Everything
Time is Money
No Lost Time
Veritum dies aperit (Time discovers the truth)
Time Is On My Side
Potius sero quad numquam (Better late than never)
Choose to Make Time
Time Waits, For Me
Achievements Require Time
Yielding to Time
Time Is Only Perception
Considerations for naming your Custom Influence Pool Card:
First, the Influence Pool card is used for storing your influence cubes which are used to influence or favor various technologies encountered in time. This makes me think of words such as time, power, influence, impact, power, technology, etc.
It's a custom card, so why not make it your own and include your name -first name, kids name, family name, etc. (20 character limit permitting).
Consider combinations of latin roots, suffixes, etc. or related words:
Time - tempo, temporal, chrono
Power, influence - vis, potent, effect, impact, catalyst
Technology - techno
Cubes - Blocks (of time), bar, brick
Storage place - depot, repository, cache, reserve, vault, coffer, supply, vault, locker, pool, conservatory (-ium)
Something simple: Your name + Influence Pool: Scott's Influence Pool
OR, some more creative combination of words (20 character limit so may preclude your name):
Temporal Power Pool
Temporal Impact Vault
Temporal Control Depot
Temporal Cube Cache
Tempotency Block Reserve
Chronovis (latin for time+power) Conservatorium
Let the rest of us know if you get any further ideas from this list.
"If at first you don't succeed, time travel again..." ?
"Those who don't learn from history get to change it" ?
Dunno how you think of the "influence" in the game, but I might think of it as whispering hint(s) to researchers/scientists/etc. in the time periods -- "Psst...mix this and that, then add electricity..." So I might call my pool my "'Pssst' Bucket" -- but that might not fit the feel/theme you're looking for :-)
@Ben Awesome. I'm guessing, though, that 31 characters (to get the full first clause of the quote "Who controls the past controls the future") would be too much?
If the 20 character limit is a bit flexible, I'll probably go with "Who controls the past..." at 24 characters then, since that at least acknowledges that it is incomplete (both as a quote and a thought).
@Ben The character limit is NOT strict. Love the quote!
How strict is the 20 character limit? Could I do, say, 21 characters, which is enough to get in "Who controls the past" the first piece of the slogan from 1984: "Who controls the past controls the future; who controls the present controls the past," which seems appropriate.
Machine. It's a Time
I wonder that too. I have no clue whatsoever what to put on mine.
So I've now got to figure out something to put on that custom influence pool card. Anyone got any suggestions? post what you're using?
@Craig Yes, things are moving along quite well with Legacy! I'll post a full update in the next day or two!
Nearly another month... Any updates?
@Craig Apologies for slacking on the Kickstarter updates, here you go: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/floodgategames/legacy-gears-of-time/posts/227964
Yes, it will be this week. There have been a lot of updates to the graphics, but everything is just about ready to go! Apologies for the delay and lack of information, I'm excited to send them out!
Hey man, do you know when the prototypes getting sent out?
