Update #11

Fix It Sticks...NOW SHIPPING

Good morning Backers,

Hopefully everyone got out for a ride this past weekend! Bare with me on this one it may get long...

The USPS returned a number of packages which delayed the Ti Sticks and after dealing with them we are ready to get those out today. We are still working through producing the $55 backer choices and the $199 backers. The custom aspect is of course taking longer, but I am shooting for this week to finish producing those sticks.

Speaking of the USPS, despite taking our finished envelopes to 2 different USPS facilities I am told that some of them are being delivered postage due. This infuriates me as we tried desperately to play by their rules and apparently they are changing the rules mid-stream. I apologize if you were one who had this experience.

To make amends for that and to return a small favor to my Kickstarter backers I have activated a coupon code at for $7.00 off any purchase. The code will be active for at least 3 weeks. I am hoping once you get the sticks you will want more and I want my early supporters to have a benefit for offering your support and patience. THE COUPON CODE WHICH IS NOW ACTIVE AT WWW.FIXITSTICKS.COM IS "Kickstarter!"

I did go out for a ride the other day finally and came up with this idea which I just tried on the fly. It worked very well for being in the middle of a country road. It will take some tweaking and eventually I may offer this with a proper fitting. But in honor of Bike Hackers everywhere the photo shows a recycled peice of tube cut to fit the stick, then inserted into the bar ends on my road bike (it worked on both traditional and short/shallow shape bars). It will take some tweaking to make it silent and easy to remove, but it is a pretty cool discovery for storing Fix It Sticks.

I have received some early positive feedback and some suggestions. As you might imagine I give this a lot of thought everyday. There are a lot of areas I want to improve and build upon, but for a first run production I am proud of the tool and the compliments mean so much to me, you really have no idea!

This whole experience while not finished yet is just amazing. I can't thank you all enough for your support and encouragement.

Have you thought about making the tips snap in and out? (Spring ball bearing) Then you could carry 2 handles and a small pouch of tips.

Like Iain, I'm another Brit who got stung with a £12/$18 customs charge. Looking forward to using it on the road though!

Just got mine....very happy except for the £12 custom charge.
      It's not your fault though....

I got my set today! Pretty awesome, and lighter or as light as my current multi-tool. I can't wait to switch it out.

Will you eventually be selling individual sticks? I'm thinking I might want a Philips and a small hex (water bottle cage size) to add to mine. Of course, I need to look back at my bikes to see what I really need.

Hi Wendy, you were a $55 backer, so no...but that has nothing to do with being intl.

We have not completed the production for $55 backers or $199 backers yet. Once we do all will go out at the same time, both domestic and Intl.

just checking if you have sent out the international orders yet?

yes, that would be cool. Once I get these orders out I have a lot of things I am looking forward to experimenting with. But this idea quickly rose to the top! I wasn't too sure about MTN bike handlebars though, since they ends don't usually pop off like road bars. But to your point, if I made it a properly designed bar end, then it would work (assuming I can design it right) Thanks Nick...

That is a great idea for storing / carrying the sticks, and one that would work even better in mountain bike handlebars.
What would be REALLY cool is... Custom Fix It Sticks machined bar ends - perhaps that could unscrew to pull out the sticks. The whole long/thin form factor of the sticks makes this a totally unique option, i think?
