Great idea to make it work...no worries. I'll have to try that tomorrow to see how it works. As a reminder we are working on a replaceable bit version soon. Well as soon as I find the right design and execution...so hopefully that is soon!

      Aloha Brian,

Received them. Thanks so much. Am making a bit of a mod to them that might be helpful to others out there. I am not doing this to make a knock on you (Brian) but just showing that instead of not being happy with what one has, just make it be what you want. I heated the end up with a propane torch and pulled one of the bits out (that isn't as useful for me). I acquired a 1/4" bit with a 1/4" nut driver on the end from McMaster Carr (a couple of bucks). Glue the guy in with JB Weld and there you have it, same tool with the capability to swap bits to what ever your heart desires.

Again Brian, great job and great ingenuity. I applaud you for going forward with this. Perhaps the but driver with nut driver can be Rev A.

      Much Aloha,
      g

Joshua, obviously you have never used a 3-way wrench. The whole premise is that its literally just 3 different bits. As the director of manufacturing (and your alias "robot") for your company, you would know that its a very popular product and all product must appeal to a specific crowd. This is not the multi-use all-in-one tool for the general population. Its design is meant for those on the road where weight and space matter, and want simple tools. The price point is quite high when compared to the 3-way wrench. But hopefully over time thatll change.

      Brian,

I am commenting to tell you that I am disappointed to see that you have bonded the tool bits into the sticks housing which limits both the utility and useful life of the tool. As the director of manufacturing for a small company and a consultant for crowd funded projects, I understand that the additional machining operations to make a interchangeable tool tip interface would have a cost attached to it but seeing as that is a feature of just about every screwdriver out there; I am disappointed that Fixitstix lack that feature.

The challenge of good design is one of creating maximum utility and usability for minimum cost. With one decision you've reduced a good design to merely a "meh" design. I look forward to the next iteration of your product and hope you'll offer an improved design.

      Regards,
      Joshua Robot

Thanks Ed! That was nice. I appreciate that!

I'm honestly a little nervous about those 8's and Sockets...the torque is tempting with the leverage attainable with the T shape, but the aluminum will fail at a certain point (~10~ foot pounds)...so stay in touch with how that 8 holds. I don't think I will offer that option too much longer (makes me too nervous) Thanks again!

Just got my sticks today. They are really nice. I just have a couple of suggestions for future upgrades. The first would be to place like tools on the same stick. My set has the screw driver bits on different sticks. Another would be to engrave the size of the bit on the tool. Also, maybe make the barrels a little slimmer. I thought they would be smaller but they are quite large when you try to put them in the usual size road bike seat bag. Don't doubt that I do love them and think they are a great idea. Looking forward to future improvements.

      Hi Brian,
Thought about this overnight and, for what it's worth, here's my two cents.
Firstly, the main reason I backed this project was that I thought it was a great idea and something that I felt could enhance my cycling experience.
Now to my thoughts on colour(!) . The main reason I backed this at the $55 level was to get something different from the normal run of fixit sticks. The green colour supported this requirement. If I had wanted the orange I'd have taken the $45, basically I'm proud to be associated with this and want everyone to know I was in at the ground floor!
Therefore, for me, the only colour I DON'T want is the Orange! :) how about an alternative to the green?, a gold, red, blue or even a polished option with a clear-kote? The most important thing at the $55 level is that we get something that you don't pan to make in production.

I am also a Beta tester 2.0; I like the idea of the etched or engraved (not sure of the difference) as opposed to a putrid green. And I love orange - it will match my black and orange Ellsworth patrol mountain bike. But I also am more tuned to the functionality than the color.

    30. Missing_small

Creator Ty Cashen on February 27, 2013

As a "Beta User 2.0", I vote for orange because I guess I like the color better and the green isn't really close to Kickstarter green. Having said that, I'm definitely much more interested in the functionality of the tool and less so in the color and exclusivity.

    31. Missing_small

      Creator B. Lee on February 27, 2013

I like the idea of a different color. The green is ok. I'd also consider a different color (blue or gold anodization would be great.)

    32. Missing_small

Creator Thomas Rolfs on February 27, 2013

Green is ugly, not too psyched about orange.
Have always felt that darker colors anodize better, blue to titanium or something like that.

    33. Missing_small

Creator Wolfgang Sykora on February 27, 2013

I know that one of your ideas is not loosing bits. But i would really like a micro bit adapter for 4mm bits on one side of one stick (is available as regular bit- would also pay extra for this). Even if there are the same design limitations as for the 8mm hex. These bits are so light an tiny and would be the best choice for the smaller bits and would let me go on tour with only two sticks for providing torque and a few additional bits for versability.

    34. Missing_small

Creator Wolfgang Sykora on February 27, 2013

I hate to say it but the green is ugly. I'm fine with gold anodized or blue or purple or any other color looking good. As long as it is a special edition which really stands out. Anyways - would also accept the orange sticks if this is the only alternative. Come on guys - i believe in you - i believe that you can give us something better than the ugly green or regular orange.
