You shouldn't be reading this right now. I should probably be dead right now...as a matter of fact...I was! My internal organs shut down back in August of 2011. I was hospitalized for 15 days, 8 of which were in the Intensive Care Unit, where I was held in a medically induced coma for 3 days. More on that in just a second, first I'd like to introduce you to...
The I Finally Quit Movement: Recruiting an Army of Quitters
This project and story is for anyone who wants to break free from 'bad' habits and get 'better' ones!
Anyone who has ever wanted freedom from things that hold them back - whether it is making excuses, procrastinating and putting things off, smoking, drinking, being mean, etc.
Anyone who, like me, wants to be...better!
In 2005, I was engaged, had a decent income and many friends – seemingly, I had “it all”. By 2006 (and for the next 5 years), I was homeless, scared, and alone.
Five years of struggle, living hand-to-mouth, and a journey that traversed the entire width of the United States from California to Florida and stops in between had lows of sleeping overnight in a park, losing the respect of friends and peers, getting fired after securing the “perfect job” that should have ended my struggles and being in the worst physical shape of my life...ultimately ending up in an Intensive Care Unit fighting for my life.
Then to the highs of cheating Death (again) from taking me in the summer of 2011, quitting cigarettes and booze, bonding with family, building two income streams, and finally securing my own place to live again.
Just look at the physical transformation...
I am now known as Dave "The Quitter"...
I inspire people around the world to make massive changes in their lives using simple, proven, time-tested strategies.
I was able to walk away from my cigarette smoking addiction of 20 years, my alcohol drinking addiction of 25 years, and other vices that held me back.
At my most addicted, I was smoking almost two packs and drinking a fifth of bourbon (that's the equivalent of 3 six-packs or 4 bottles of wine) nearly every day for five years.
I arose from a sedentary, couch-potato lifestyle; taking control of my life, fitness and health to triumphantly declare “I Finally Quit!”
Through gaining freedom from several vices and recovering from organ failure due to more than two decades of alcohol abuse, I wrote a book about my experiences and more importantly, developed a website to help people QUIT actions and behaviors that are detrimental to their health, relationships, finances, and more.
This book will help and encourage you and others to gain freedom from anything that holds you back:
- making excuses,
- procrastinating and putting things off,
- drinking to excess,
- being mean,
- and more
So, if a world of inspiration and people encouraging others to get things done, to quit a lifestyle that's just not working for them is something you are or want to be passionate about...come get the freedom to say "I Finally Quit!" and support this project.
I've spent the last three years...
writing in two different formats & dreaming in a third and that's why I need your help:
First, I wrote in the format of text; creating "The I Finally Quit Movement: Recruiting an Army of Quitters"
I need $5,000 to finish up the loose ends on book publication.
Second, I taught myself to write in the format of web development, wordpress and html coding.
Third, I dream in the format of possibility. The possibility of creating a globally recognized brand; empowering people to inspire and be inspired.
Reaching a stretch goal of $50,000 to hire a "C-Level" team and marketing firm, would help catapult the I Finally Quit movement onto the global scene.
I've reached a point where I cannot continue this project alone anymore and that's why I need your help.
To back this project...select a reward that makes sense to you.
If you don't see a reward that speaks to you, simply select the reward titled "A BIG HIGH FIVE FOR QUITTERS".
It's just $5 and YOU will help to inspire someone to change an action or behavior that holds them back, by furthering this project.
I need help finishing the publishing of my book "The I Finally Quit Movement - Recruiting an Army of Quitters".
The candid, real-life story has already been written; however, the cost of editing, publishing, and printing has become a hindrance in getting this inspiring story to the masses.
With your support, I'll be able to not only get the manuscript through the remaining publication process, but also be able to print and store the book on hand.
This is crucial for signings, on the spot ordering and marketing, as well as being able to fulfill orders.
Where the money (for goal #1) will go...
- Editing, publishing, design, printing, shipping, payment processing, and more
- Although the costs are actually well over $10,000, most of this I've paid (or made commitments) to pay out of my own pocket and quite frankly, it's created a bit of a financial burden.
- I sure could use your help.
Special Thanks to My Team
I didn't create this book alone:
Dr. H. K. Tabrizi, MD - Personal Physician (Foreword)
Jon Marino - Marketing
I'd be ecstatic if we could reach (and stretch beyond) $25,000. If you all could help me get to this level, it would allow me to "bring in the big guns" with more coding/developing experience than I have.
Being self-taught with a little coaching here and there, I am extremely proud of the website created at www.ifinallyquit.com. Currently, once a member is logged in, the site operates very similar to Facebook or Twitter. By making improvements and hiring expert coders, I look to improve the site's functionality; giving an even more engaging and pleasurable experience to the users/members.
Although the site's been built on a total shoe-string budget and 100% out-of-pocket, the site is already positively impacting people's lives. www.ifinallyquit.com is an amazing membership-based website that joins people together who WANT to quit something and with those who HAVE quit...something. I know it can be so much more, so I hope you can help me get to this stretch goal.
Where the money (for goal #2) will go...
There are many upgrades and features I would love to have on the site, as well as convert/integrate the site into an iOS and Android app.
With my limited coding knowledge, it is time to bring in the big guns to give the growing member base an even better experience when interacting with others.
I know continually improving the site and offering quicker, easier ways for my online community to interact with each other will lead to more and more people putting vices and negative behavior in their rear view mirror.
DOES IT REALLY WORK? CHECK OUT THESE TESTIMONIALS...
By interacting with others who are quitting the same things they are, members at www.ifinallyquit.comare more likely to find success in quitting than braving it on their own.
A DREAMER'S GOAL...
I see people proudly wearing the logo on shirts, hats, wristbands, and more; letting those around them know they have made a commitment to change..
I could use this stretch goal to catapult the I Finally Quit logo and brand throughout the world by hiring a team to get to the next level. Bringing on an interim CEO/CFO, an assistant, and sales person would help me learn the "business" side of running a business.

...backing this project AND getting the reward of your choice...
Risks and challenges
Being a self-starter and seeing everything I've accomplished so far, excites me in getting to the "next level".
1) Seeing as the hard part of writing my book is already behind me, the only "challenge" to bringing the manuscript into the real (or electronic) world for the masses is editing and publishing. That is why I have teamed up with the awesome staff of Creative Force Press. They have brought numerous authors through the process, so reaching Goal #1 will overcome the only challenge I have left; regarding the book.
2) When it comes to continually improving the IFQ website and converting/integrating to mobile apps, I have researched many development companies and know which direction I would like to head for assistance with these cool updates. Although in the coding world, delays can occur, because of the clear vision for the upgrades I'd like to see, I don't anticipate any delays in bringing continual updates and improvements to site members.
3) In regards to creating awareness for the IFQ logo and brand, time and money are the only challenges I Finally Quit, Inc. currently faces.
Hiring of "C-Level" experts, a marketing company, and other experts will lead to my dream of seeing an "Army of Quitters" making the world a better place.
