About this project
First of all, I would like to say thank you to all of you! Second, please understand that you don't need to pledge to support Final Element. If you like what you see, and you want to help out, please spread the word! I'll also be making the demo available to the public if I reach my goal!
Final Element is going to be getting a HUGE face-lift. Almost all of the art in Final Element will be changed. I'm already laying out professional work from two amazing pixel artists. I'll be posting some of their work once everything gets squared away!
What's the plot?: Final Element takes place not long after the earth is sucked into a black hole. Reality as we know it is failing. You play the role of one of the lucky ones. One who wasn't torn apart when the black hole hit. Instead, you find that you are gifted with harnessing the powers of the elements. On the last days left on earth, you wander around, seeing the world in pure chaos, battling other survivors that were also blessed with unrealistic abilities, while saving those survivors who weren't as fortunate.
What kind of a game is Final Element?: Final Element is a side-scrolling beat em up platformer. It's processing needs are very low, and it plays well, with tight controls, and a fun, yet challenging play style.
What makes this game unique?: When reality shattered, so did your ability to die. Instead, when on the brink of collapse, you are teleported to a realm known as semi reality. You must climb your way out of this void at any cost!
Final Element also has a unique twist. With each day that passes by, the levels get harder to complete. More enemies, more level unique difficulties. Depending on which portal you choose to enter could mean that the game gets easier or harder from there on. Final Element is also jam packed with secrets. I've revealed a lot of them just in the preview video, but that doesn't even cover 1/10th of them. Every level will have plenty of hidden areas, most of which you won't find even on your 3rd play through!
Each element handles situations differently. Depending on what enemy you fight, you might have more of an upper hand using a certain element. Elements are also able to give you unique environmental advantages. Some elements move blocks, others destroy them. Some create blocks for you to stand on. Some elements give you the ability to fly, etc.
Each zone is also semi randomly generated. Meaning you won't always get the same thing twice. There are several different types of bonus games in Final Element, but since the levels randomly spawn, you won't always see the same ones.
The player is also offered the choice to switch "skins" at any time during game-play. Skins are found in secret areas on the map. I'll be modeling these skins after backers, but there are a limited number of these! (If no one purchases any of the slots for these characters, I'll be sticking to the two main characters, and removing the skin feature)
Element System: So far there are 9 elements: Fire, Water, Air, Electricity, Space, Earth, Light, Shadow, and a secret element. The element system works similar to the way drops do in MMOs. You will get multiple rarities of an element, depending on it's rarity, it will do more or less damage. Perfect Elements are the most rare form, and include awesome particle effects. 3 out of the 9 can only be found in perfect form, and are done so by unlocking certain goals within Final Element. Depending on the milestone reached means more elements!
Each Element has it's standard attack, secondary attack, and special. The special uses it's own resource system depending on the element used. Space has the power to suck enemies into black holes. Fire ignites the ground. Electricity stuns and damages opponents. etc.
What kind of music does Final Element have? Currently the music in Final Element was designed by me, but the wonderful Tim Forsyth has started working on the music and it's an honor to have Tim doing so; Absolutely astounding work. I wanted to give you guys a preview of what is currently in the game. I will be updating it when Tim finishes some tracks!
Currently, the game is in Alpha. There is a lot that still needs to be done to Final Element, and I'm not stopping until every pixel is as perfect as it can possibly be. Whether it be hiring sound engineers, artists, programmers, I'll finish this and put out the best quality product that I possibly can. Access to the Beta is currently unannounced I have recently received a lot of extra funding, and I have a lot of new features that I'm able to add into Final Element, that I previously wasn't able to. This means a bit longer on the beta wait times, but overall means a way better product! I'm still shooting for a release date of November.
I'm always up for suggestions as well, so if you saw something you liked, something you didn't like, please be sure to contact me and let me know! I'm not just making this game for myself, I'm making it for all of you! Please be sure to comment on what platforms you want this released on. It's initial release will be for the PC. I'm aiming to release Final Element on Steam, but depending on how well the support is, I'll port it over! If everything goes well, I plan on releasing many sequels to this game. The story I have made makes it very easy to build off of, and I'm already thinking of cool ideas past the first one! A big thanks goes out to Chenielle as well, she's my wonderful girlfriend, and she was the one that has drawn the large scale pixel art you see!
Any funds that I receive that go past the initial 1,000$ goal will be used to hire animation and boss artists. I'm really hoping I can hire an artist to do the cinematics. All extra funding will go to making this game even better! No penny will be wasted. One thing I have failed to mention was that I'm trying to do this entire game without explaining the story through words. I want everything to happen in game, so you interpret it for yourself. If I do a good job with that, then I have succeeded.

Risks and challenges
I really want to make this project shine. I devote 100% of my day to this video game, and every day that goes by, I can't believe how much more content I've added to the game. I'm no longer a one man developer. My good friend Tim now helps with the music, and developing full time. It's great to be working side by side with such a talented person.
The only thing that would slow me down is my inability to pay rent, or continue living. All of the funds will go to hiring an amazing programmer, and a few wonderful artists. All money will go to making this game shine.
