FilmNeverDie was established in 2011 as a film and vintage camera shop and has grown to be so much more. FilmNeverDie’s mission extends beyond the photographic—we want to shoot, grow, and share our work with our customers as a community. As an investment in our shooters, and as a means to build long term relationships with them we aim to publish photography books exhibiting their hard work.
FilmNeverDie pioneered and fostered the film community in Melbourne which is now enjoyed by greater Australia and film communities worldwide.
FilmNeverDie’s community activities include monthly photo walks not only around Melbourne and Australia, but have grown to include congregations in Malaysia (2015), China (2015), and Japan (2017).
Our efforts have remained strong, with yearly photo exhibitions dating back to 2014, which include:
2014 - Polaroid Resurrection (part of ExPolaroid, a global Polaroid exhibition) with Photonet Gallery - read the coverage here.
2015 - Polaroid Resurrection with Melbourne Fringe Festival, Magnet Galleries Melbourne, Australia.
2015 - Polaroid Resurrection with 90 Degree Art and Cafe in Malaysia
2016 - Shirokuro 400 launch exhibition with Magnet Galleries Melbourne Many more to come...
FilmNeverDie has been an establishment in the Melbourne creative scene since 2011, and now has expansion on the horizon. We are excited to announce we will now be able to provide our shooters with in-house film photography processing as an investment in their creative endeavors
If you've ever come into FilmNeverDie for a chat with other creatives in our workspace, checking out new gears, or scanning services we truly hope you've enjoyed the experience. New offerings for our shooters include a top of the line Fuji developing machine in our lab, set to be finished with installation soon. The same way FilmNeverDie seeks to support our customers, we hope to count on your support in reaching our fundraising goal. This fund will go toward heightening the quality our creative hub. Renovations include furnishing, new equipment (such as the SP-3000 Fuji Fontier scanner below), and staff hires for the store, and a new and bigger creative space for 2018.
Stores that develop film in Melbourne are a rarity, one like FilmNeverDie who really invest in the customer's journey is even rarer. The media landscape is increasingly digitized, leaving analogue content creators with limited options. There are only two other stores that offer film services in the city. We want to rally analogue photographers to invest in fostering film practices and appreciation, and help us in our goal to keep the art accessible and affordable.
This campaign involves both risk and excitement, but an opportunity to expand the quality of our services for our shooters. Your partnership is vital in the effort to keep analogue art thriving so that everybody can enjoy it. If you haven't seen, we have a pool of talented young individuals who is dedicated and determined to make our vision of running the machine and getting our new space a reality. Starting off with the duo who always give their 110% to customer service - Jed Rann and Huw Morgan, follow by our amazing photographer - Gong (Piyathath P), videographer - Kelly Reen, our amazing marketing and creative team - Bella Peresa, Rizki Wibisono and Nan (Hattaya Sae-ngow), our photowalk captain - James Juranke, public relation manager - Mandi Bruce, photography course coordination- Maddie Hedin, our amazing volunteers - Minty (Jacinta Keefe), Scott Williams, Emil Raji and Jay Quellin, plus past and present volunteers and staffs, without these wonderful community of talent we will not be where we are now.
