Glena Avila is poised to become the next big thing in MMA. In just twelve months since her first fight, she’s laid waste to four more experienced fighters, collected two championship belts, and earned the nickname Heartless for her dominating, intense performances. She's currently preparing for her fifth fight, while simultaneously facing foreclosure and battling to keep custody of her nine-year-old daughter. As she enters the sport at an age (35) when most fighters are retiring, the small-town girl’s ferocious work ethic and guts-of-steel reflect the stark reality that she has no time to waste. Fight Dreams is a revealing, often devastating view of a mother turned cage fighter as she prepares to defend her dream of becoming a pro fighter.
Donations will go towards:
- filming the final month of Glena's training and fight weekend (Jan 8)
- editing 20+ hours of footage (requires a talented editor spending lots and lots of time at the computer)
- soundtrack (original music by Portland-based film composer Ostin Drais)
- audio mixing and color grading (extremely tedious and essential final steps)
- DVD duplication (so the whole world can watch)
Fight Dreams is an independent passion project. It's a searing true story that transcends gender and age, and connects with that part of us that has dreamed - or as in Glena's case - still dreams to live a bigger life. Dreams are stubborn things. That rational, logical part of our brain tells us that we know better. But there's that emotional, dramatic part of our heart that reminds us that life is too short and too incredible to not give it a shot. Fight Dreams is currently being created on sweat, spare change, and the ridiculous, romantic notion that dreams are one of the only things worth fighting for. We're eternally grateful for even non-financial support, but the reality is that filmmaking is both expensive and time consuming, and we desperately need to generate as much support as possible in order to complete the film at the quality that it deserves, and to release it as soon as possible. I humbly ask for your support, and I'm sincerely thankful that you've chosen to give Fight Dreams a moment of your time.
Here's to dreaming,
