alarmclock displays the financial data you choose - from account balance to investment performance to 401k - via API or by securely connecting to financial institution.

alarmclock quantifies social network data, creating an aggregate number which represents the scope and size of your social world at it’s widest.

alarmclock displays a projected life expectancy in days - based on age, health, lifestyle, diet, family history and other factors.
alarmclock's flush-mounted smoked glass mirror faceplate frames a custom 8x32 array of 2-bit LEDs. The enclosure is hand-built from FSC-certified bamboo by PHAW custom woodworks in the borough of Bronx, New York.
Set up a WiFi connection and customize alarmclock features from your desktop, phone or tablet. Future updates will offer a broader range of motivational data; such as deforestation rates, or box office receipts.

alarmclock was inspired by the demands of starting a small business in the murky and unforgiving economic climate of 2012. By February 2013 we had a working prototype and had begun approaching partners to design and build the case. We had a bottleneck issue with the Arduino even with my proprietary data compression method. Raspberry Pi platform solved it but we need a more specialized and cost-effective CPU. Timeline: By early December have hardware platform sourced, with component and case manufacturing in progress, and software and control panel approaching final development; all moving toward a planned January 2014 ship date. Yes we would like to ship alarmclock in time for the holidays but it is, as Alex would say not possible.
Risks and challenges
Each ALARMclock is hand assembled with love. Including labor and materials for the enclosure each clock costs nearly $100 to produce. The screen consists of four resourcefully interconnected 8x8 LED display units and a stock Raspberry Pi processor. With your help, sourcing a higher-bandwidth 8x32 display module and a more specialized processor would create efficiencies that would help us lower total cost of each clock to under $50.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
