WHO WE ARE
FYWA (fyeahwomenartists.com) is Caroline Knowles and Rhiannon Platt. Created in 2011, this website was inspired by the lack of knowledge about women artists. Built from the ground up, FYWA educates readers on women artists of all mediums and genres, both emerging and established. In addition to generating new content, we also hope to act as a tool to further the teachings about the need for equal representation of genders in art history.
We're ready to expand FYWA to the print world! Over the past year, FYWA has featured original interviews with NY-based women artists and we want to create an original zine filled with new interviews. Once we have completed designing + printing the zine, we want to participate in the yearly NY Art Book Fair at MoMA PS1 to distribute the zine and represent our blog. INTERVIEWS v. 1 will also be available for purchase online.
Throughout the project, we'll be updating the blog and Kickstarter page with our progress and sneak peeks of the zine.
$62 of the funds we receive will front the cost of securing a table at the NY Art Book Fair in September (we'll be splitting a table with another zine vendor). The additional money will be used to print the zine (as many copies as we can!). Each zine will have a glossy, color cover with black and white pages.
