You are not smelling the metal at all.The fidget ball is a product of effort, from planning to manufacture. It is made out of aluminum that provides no rust and has solid durability, with a meticulous working process to provide soft and optimal texture.
You can check the interior by disassembling the product with a hex wrench. Each ball’s bearing is lubricated with a bead on each side. When each ball rotates, the bead passes through a hole and creates the ratchet sound. Although the rotation isn’t maintained as smoothly as a fidget spinner, you can feel a clicking sensation during the rotation.
