Hello and thank you for checking out our KickStarter page:
What We Want To Do
We are looking to raise funds to help finish our feature film "Middle of Nowhere". Making a full length feature film (90min) is a rite of passage for filmmakers. It's even more impressive if the film is chosen for distribution. The way we plan on accomplishing this ambitious goal is to submit the completed film to all of the major festivals including, TIFF, Tribeca, Sundance, Cannes, SBSW, etc. This of course costs money.
How We Plan To Do It
We have already shot three scenes, which served as a great test run. Now, with your help we can continue filming this September.
As we all know, time is money. In order to save, we have scheduled to shoot the film in a little over a week and 95% of it will be shot in one city: Los Banos, CA. (If you've ever gone up/down CA-5 then you've undoubtedly driven through it.) Another way to save time and money is to extensively plan out every detail. We've been storyboarding this film frame by frame like a comic book. We've have rehearsals, costumes tests, floor plans of the locations we'll be filming etc. No detail will be left to chance.
What The Money Is For
We have a great crew and a talented cast. We have managed to bring all these people together excited to work on this project for very little money but certain expenses cannot be avoided. For instance, we must pay for everyone's gas, lodging, and food. We will be renting high quality lenses and lights in order to ensure the highest quality image, which is essential when showing the film on the big screen. The art department also has several expenses including props, costumes and set dressings.
Your money will go towards the shooting and editing of the film. Since Kickstarter is an all or nothing fund raiser we decided to set our mark at the halfway point. You can always raise more but you can never raise less. Our full production goal is $10,000. When the film is finished we can move our concentrations onto posters and festivals.
Miles hasn't returned to his rural home since he made his escape nine years ago. Now, drawn back to attend his father's funeral, he must assemble the pieces of the life he chose to forget. His family's farm is pushing foreclosure and his childhood best friend is now trapped in an abusive relationship. Feeling a sense of responsibility for abandoning his past, Miles must get over his animosity towards the town if he wants to make a difference. Meanwhile his job depends on his immediate return to Seattle.
We have had tremendous support getting this project off the ground and now we are taking the next step and we hope you will join us. We have shot the first couple of scenes (which you will see in the video above) to show you what we are capable of doing. You can feel confidence in donating to this project because we are extemely deticated, organized, determined and technically savvy. We also have some cool rewards lined up for you so do check those out. Your support means the world to us. Any contribution, big or small will help us achieve our goal and realize our dreams. Thanks again for watching.
