FUNDED!!! eeep! Let there be Penguin Pins!
The Penguin Pin Project
Greetings! My name is Melanie Ann Green and I am the creative genius/lunatic behind Feltmeupdesigns. I have already successfully funded one Kickstarter project to create a brand new product line and am excited to be starting another!
Over the past year or so I have been making little felted penguins and documenting their biscuit stealing, bunny ear wearing, trouble making, life affirming antics. These little blighters have got me through a tough time and made me smile on days I really didn't feel like it. The penguins have become a symbol for positivity.
The only thing is I sometimes wished I could take one with me where ever I went so I decided to create a wearable pin penguin version and also I just want to put penguins on everything! #penguinsoneverything
STRETCH GOAL - 2 MORE PIN DESIGNS ADDED
Super Secret Penguin Plot revealed! Yes... 2 more pin designs for you to choose from! You don't have to choose right now. At the end of the project I will send out Backer Surveys so you can choose your pin then!
You can get extra pins by upgrading your pledge by choosing a reward for 2 or 3 pins or you can add a pin to any pledge by adding on £7 per pin to your pledge. Make sure you message me to say you want extra pins and how many pins when you do so I can add a note to your pledge.
Don't forget to keep following along on Facebook for some crazy penguin shenanigans and join the count down party for the final week by clicking the "Going" button on the Event Page for even more updates and silliness!
The pin designs are based on my lino cut print of the Positivity Penguin, Ice Cream (penguin in disguise) and Captain Jack Penguin and will be translated into pin form with the help of the very talented Tina Mammoser (another sucessful Kickstarter Creator) who also did my pin mock up for me!
Obviously there's the amazing enamel penguin pin
- Approx. 30mm wide/tall
- Soft Enamel
- Hi Polish Silver Colour Plating
- Rubber Clutch
Other rewards include post cards, vinyl stickers, button badges, needle felted penguins... Not into badges? How about a "We don't need no stinking badges" reward?
Want to support the project but don't want any stuff? There's a digital reward level. There's a reward level for every budget... filled with awesome penguin stuff!
Follow the Madness
During my last Kickstarter Project I found as many uses as possible for a tea towel. This time I'm having a penguin takeover on my social media pages so you can follow along on Twitter with #penguinsoneverything or over at my facebook page or Instagram for a penguin, pirate takeover!
I don't want to be overly optimistic here (I do, we are totally gonna smash it!) but if we smash the initial goal I'll add stretch goals as the Kickstarter progresses. To start with:
£750 - SMASHED!!!! The pin will become a hard enamel pin rather than soft... I'll spring for the fancier finish and backing cards to make them look extra spesh!
£1000 - SMASHED!!!!
Extra mini print added from the "Masters of Disguise" series I'm working on! Ice cream! All physical reward backers will get one of these babies!
The plot thickens with more pin designs being added!
£2000 - I shall put on a penguin costume and make a fool of myself in my home town of Scarborough... come on that's gotta be worth £2000 right? I'll also sweeten the deal with another little bit secret thing!
Pirate Penguin Postcard for all physical reward levels
£2500 - TBA
SMASHED!!! Welcome penguin overlords sticker for all physical reward levels and now I can make 500 pins instead of just 300!
More money = more penguins... more penguins on everything! #penguinsoneverything. There's also a distinct possibility that if we hit our goal I will don a penguin costume and go running about Scarborough like a loon, so if for no other reason you should back me so I can do that!

If you're a little worried about me (no not my mental health, the penguins really do talk to me) then you can check out my feedback over at my Etsy store to see how reliable I am (very!)
Risks and challenges
Despite the fact that I suspect I am being mind controlled by penguins, I have 10 years experience selling online and shipping my designs internationally so I don't anticipate any problems arising from fulfilling the rewards on time. I'm aiming for all rewards to be delivered in time for Christmas.
I learned a lot from my first Kickstarter (don't add new rewards halfway through, make sure your postage is calculated correctly) and am confident that I can deliver rewards on time.
The Pins are being made by a UK based company who I have worked with before and are very reliable, however I have allowed lots of time for any acts of sabotage on the part of the Penguin MafiaLearn about accountability on Kickstarter
