Welcome to The Few and Cursed Season Finale Kickstarter!
"Part of the journey is the end..." - Stark, Tony
My name is Felipe Cagno and I'm the co-creator of TFAC alongside Fabiano Neves. I'm the writer, he's the artist, and together we've been working on this title starring the Redhead for nearly four years now.
This is the Kickstarter to publish the 32-page issue #6 of the post-apocalyptic Western series The Few and Cursed: Crows of Mana'Olana!
This is our season finale, we have reached the very end of our first story arc.
But don't worry! Now is your chance to grab the entire mini-series!
While this might be the Kickstarter to fund the last part of the story, you'll also find all the previous issues among many of our tiers so if you are a new backer and reader, make yourself right at home!
Whether you are a new or old reader, if you are interested in any of our previous collectibles, we will have a Pledge Manager after the campaign closes where you'll be able to customize your package with whatever items you might have missed.
The world of The Few and Cursed has grown because of your amazing support and will continue to grow with an original board game!
Indie game publisher Rock Manor Games launched a Kickstarter to produce the official The Few and Cursed Board Game and raised over $135K in pledges from over 2.300 backers! If you missed it and would like to pre-order the game:
It's been an incredible journey and I'm glad we made it this far. And we couldn't have done without an avid base of readers that have successfully crowdfunded every issue so far always unlocking multiple Stretch Goals!
Thank you all for sticking with us. Let's continue this journey together, shall we?

WHAT IS THE FEW AND CURSED? WHO IS THE MYSTERIOUS REDHEAD?
She is the star of The Few and Cursed in what can be described as a Buffy the Vampire Slayer meets the Old West comic book series. This is the ideal comic book for any Western, Adventure or Supernatural fan!
It's been seventy years since most of the water in the world was just gone overnight in a mysterious apocalyptic event.
And even though what was left of mankind found a way to adapt and survive using water, the most valuable asset on the planet, as currency, survival turned the world into a wicked wasteland where it's either kill or be killed.
And evil not only endured, it blossomed.
People turned to dark arts, old tales of mischief and curses to survive.
Red is a hardened survivor that was born in this reality and now fights to protect the innocent. As for every darkness there is also light among the few and cursed are those willing to fight to bring balance to the lands: the Curse Chasers.
SO THE REDHEAD IS--
--a Curse Chaser, right.
Every whisper in the night about something terrible, something supernatural, something evil and the Redhead is off to hunt it down.
And she's become exceedingly good at it.
WHAT KIND OF MONSTERS ARE WE TALKING ABOUT EXACTLY?
Shockingly evil and devastatingly wicked. That kind.
Creatures spat back straight from hell that should never exist in the first place. But desperate times call for desperate measures and people turned to the darkest corners of the world to survive...
A poisoned vial, a cursed coin, a hangman's tree, all ways common folks can become powerful beyond measure despite what they might become in the process.
Chief among those monsters The Crows of Mana'Olana - the villains of our first story arc.
CROWS OF WHERE?
Mana'Olana - a small town in the Honolulu Mountains region (what was once Hawaii). That's where the bedtime story about giant Crows that kidnap children in the silent of night comes from.
Oh and while they are taking the kids, they also shred the grown-ups to pieces. For years the Crows of Mana'Olana have preyed on the innocent unchecked.
Until she came along... the Redhead.
THAT SOUNDS AWESOME! HOW MANY ISSUES ARE PLANNED?
The Crows of Mana'Olana story will be told in six (6) issues - each with 32 fully colored pages in standard comic book format 6'625 x 10'25in.
The first five books have already been published thanks to the amazing support of many of you. This Kickstarter is to print issue #6 - the epic conclusion!
If this is your first time hearing about The Few and Cursed here's an issue by issue synopsis:
(skip this section to avoid potential spoilers!!)
Issue #1 introduces the Redhead to readers as we get to see her chase a local Indian myth, the Tsilkali, a giant snake preying on the small town of Mountain View, California.
In Issue #2 we follow the Redhead to the border of San Andreas and see her first meeting with a 94-year old survivor of The Reaping, Jebediah Younger. They team up to cross the Pacific after the Crows of Mana’Olana and learn firsthand how real they really are… and how dangerous.
In the next installment of the series, Issue #3, the Redhead and Jebediah finally make it to Mana’Olana. In a flashback story, readers learn what the Redhead is truly capable of.
Issue #4 features the very first big battle with the Crows in Mana'Olana. We also go deeper in Red's fatherly relationship with Jebediah and unravel some of his background.
In Issue #5, the Redhead comes face to face with the Crows in a violent death match and finds out who they really are.
We're now working towards the conclusion in Issue #6 and Red will not walk away clean from this last encounter...
Work on Issue #6 has just begun but you are more than welcome to check out some previews for the first three pages below:
WOULD YOU MIND SHARING SOME PAGES FROM EACH ISSUES?
What's a great story without some terrific art to go along with it, right?
Fabiano Neves is a master storyteller with 20 years of experience working with comics and The Few and Cursed is his passion project.
Needless to say all that passion really oozes onto the pages:
[Issue #6 - Preview shot]
WHAT ABOUT THAT CHRONICLES OF THE FEW AND CURSED ANTHOLOGY?
The Chronicles of The Few and Cursed is an anthology featuring short stories by top artists set in the same universe.
The book collects 8 brand new stories - including two exclusive Redhead tales - for a total of 96 fully colored pages and was produced both in softcover and hardcover formats.
Some of our higher tiers designed for new readers already have Chronicles included but you will also be able to add it to any pledge after the Kickstarter ends through our pledge manager.
With Chronicles we were able to explore the four corners of the world and how other cultures around the planet have dealt and continue to deal with the disappearance of most of the water.
Visit a Persian city overtaken by horrifying Daevas, raid a tomb in Egypt after the Eye of Horus and get lost in a shark cemetery in the Australian outback.
Our main dish is obviously The Few and Cursed: Crows of Mana'Olana issue #6 in all its' different variant covers but we're also offering all the back-issues so new readers have access to the full story in one fell swoop.
These rewards are also included in EVERY pledge:
*Every comic book in the mail comes signed by me (Felipe Cagno)
*Every reward tier includes YOUR name in our "Thank You" section (regardless of the tier you pick, we are very grateful to have you joining us on this adventure!)
*Also included is a digital copy to whatever book you are getting in print (downloadable PDFs)
*We've also produced full sets of collectible cards, commemorative coins, exclusive mini-prints & more which will be available after the Kickstarter through our Pledge Manager \o/
Set of Prints - Series 3
If you are looking to go beyond the comics, we offer full sets of large format A3 prints mailed separately in cardboard tubes!
*Series 1 & 2 prints will be available in our Pledge Manager as well.
The Few and Cursed has always been very lucky to snag pin-ups by some of the world's most talented and popular artists. Some were included in previous issues in our Galleries, some were produced for collectible cards and some were specifically done for these posters.
Backers can choose to go home with a set of 8x large format posters including a gorgeous piece of art by Tou Vue exclusively commissioned for this set!
Prints come in a large 11x17in size glossy high-end paper and we ship them in a separate thick cardboard Mailer Tube.
*International backers please note this means twice as much shipping as the tubes are considered packages as well.
The Series 3 set of posters includes art by:
- Priscilla Petraites & Marco Lesko (Redhead board game edition)
- Fabiano Neves & Sanju Nivangune
- Rodrigo Ramos
- Mauro Fodra
- Ig Guara & Juan Fernandez
- Lauren Marshall & Vinicius Townsend
- Clonerh series 2
- Tou Vue (exclusive art!!)
On top of printed artworks we are also offering the unique opportunity to get three original Redhead artworks by top pro artists!
*These are original one-of-kind artworks and will be mailed separately to ensure they arrive in mint conditions
There's a lot planned including new items for collectible sets we started in previous Kickstarters. That means more trading cards, commemorative coins, mini-prints and more!
If you back now and spread the word... we just might be able to squeeze more into your package!
Here's everything unlocked so far:
FELIPE CAGNO - Writer & Editor
I'm 35 years old and I have been working pretty much exclusively with comics since 2013. I have a background in film making, got my Master's degree at Chapman University and wrote and directed my first feature-length film in 2012, A Bullet With No Name.
My first comic book series was The Lost Kids: Seeking Samarkand epic adventure adapted from a feature screenplay I wrote while at Chapman and working at producing companies like Arad Pictures, Weed Road and Misher Films.
I went on to create and publish the anthology of short stories 321: Fast Comics, the original graphic novels Too Good to Be True and Choices: A Hero's Tale. In 2017 I was the recipient of a prestigious cultural grant in Brazil to produce the sci-fi book Adagio and I also have another creator-owned series in the works, the spy thriller Classified.
One of the coolest projects I've worked on was a short story for Planet of the Apes published by comic book app Madefire and 20th Century Fox.
FABIANO NEVES - Artist
Professionally working as an artist since he was nineteen years old, Fabiano was first published in the US in 2000 with Xena Warrior Princess. He then went on to work for Marvel, DC, Dark Horse and Dynamite among other publishers.
A talented colorist as well, Fabiano has done both interior pages and covers for Xena, Marvel Zombies, Red Sonja, Robocop, JLA’s Vibe and Constantine among many other titles. The Few and Cursed represents Fabiano’s first creator-owned project.
TIAGO BARSA - Colorist
Newcomer Tiago Barsa has been with us since issue #3 and has taken over coloring duties on issue #5 for the remainder of the series. Every page he carefully crafts always surprises me and Fabiano for the sheers quality behind them. His credits include work for Ape Entertainment and Ed Benes Studio.
DEYVISON MANES - Letterer
One of the best letterers in Brazil, Deyvison has built an impressive body of work over the past couple of years and is slowly tackling more and more titles for the US comic market.
He's been with The Few and Cursed since the beginning and has also done every other book I've ever published. He is also a crafty writer and has his own creator-owned sci-fi book - Justiça Sideral.
Fabiano and I are all about 100% transparency and we believe you deserve to know where your money is going to.
All of the money raised by Kickstarter will be used towards four things: Production, Printing, Shipping and Fees.
Here’s a breakdown of our costs based on previous TFAC Kickstarters:
Total - $16,777.57
Any additional funding over the initial goal will first cover whatever is left from the above and all the extras like collectible cards, pin-ups, magnets, etc, and production of future books of The Few and Cursed saga.
I've also substantially raised the budget for shipping to make sure you get your rewards as fast and safely as possible.
We pack and mail our rewards using hard cardboard photo mailers plus dust-free clear plastic bags and comic book sized card-boards.
*** For higher tiers or packages with extra books we use Easy-Fold Mailers:
*** We also ship our prints using thick cardboard mailer tubes:
Our primary goal is to entertain you and release the series entirely through Kickstarter. It all starts with YOU and YOUR support so thanks so much for sticking with us.
If you have any questions please send me a message or shoot an e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org
Risks and challenges
This will be my 12th Kickstarter campaign, 23rd crowdfunding campaign if you take into account my experience with a similar platform in Brazil. By now I can say I have a pretty good handle of what to expect prior, during and after a lengthy campaign.
I love crowdfunding, it's an excellent opportunity to get in direct touch with readers and fans. If you have any criticism, feedback or questions, I'm always around whether it's through Kickstarter's messaging system or at email@example.com
I'd like to point out that we are still working on the book. Fabiano is already laying out the issue and I'm one draft away from being completely done with the writing. We've set a longer than usual delivery estimate so we can under-promise and over-deliver.
However, things can happen... Printers can miss deadlines, add-ons can get hung up on customs and more. Regardless of the problem, please know I will ALWAYS be in touch. I post regular updates and will keep you informed about every step of the process. I'm always available to answer questions, critiques or concerns. I try to be as forthcoming as possible but I do depend on you guys to open my e-mails and regularly check our page for updates.
This Kickstarter brings higher shipping costs to cover two third-party platforms designed specifically to make sure your packages are mailed as fast as possible and without any missing items.
All in all I'm glad you are here and thanks so much for backing!
