About the feath3r theory
the feath3r theory (TF3T) is a New York City based dance-theatre-media company that produces the work of Artistic Director and Choreographer Raja Feather Kelly. As a collaboration of dancers, actors, filmmakers, musicians, photographers, and designers, TF3T explores pop-culture and current cultural phenomena, building original performances that skillfully combine, deconstruct, and reimagine elements of dance, visual media, fashion, drag, standup, minstrelsy, and narrative theatre.
“Andy Warhol’s 15 proves that Kelly is an artist to be followed attentively.” Jeremy M. Barker for Culturebot
Fundraising should be easy, fun, and represent the organization. After a successful inaugural 24-hour campaign last year, we feel the telethon represents the nature of our company and invites people to have a closer look at what we do while also enjoying our company. Like our art, it’s another way to bring people together. The telethon minimizes the amount of time we spend asking for money and maximizes the time we spend creating the work! We need to continue making art!
“Raja Feather Kelly’s voguing of Drella distills this history into a potent force of performance art that critiques and undermines what Warhol’s — and, by extension, our society’s — preference for white meant yesterday and continues to mean today.” Daniel Larkin for Hyperallergic

Last year we surpassed our $5,000 goal. We thought this was impossible. The generosity we received inspired us to work harder, and make more. Our 2017/2018 Season was its strongest yet: Raja was awarded the Princess Grace Award; TF3T sold out at The Kitchen; we took The Love Episode on tour to DC, and received rave reviews. And more to announce later this year!
Our goal this year is to raise $10,000 to help support the company’s new works:
- UGLY, a solo for Raja to premiere in September:
- I, I, Am A Dancer, a group work to premiere at Ars Nova this summer;
- Plus, we are developing our latest Warhol/Pop Culture-inspired work: WEDNESDAY and The McCarthy Era.
ALL DONATIONS ARE TAX DEDUTIBLE!
“With deadpan wit and a 12-member ensemble embodying archetypes from movies, television and children’s stories, Mr. Kelly’s fusion of dance and theater shifts seamlessly from absurd to cheeky to the unexpectedly and piercingly sincere.” - Brian Schaefer for The New York Times
Risks and challenges
The money we raise goes towards artist fees, administrative support and our yearly operating costs!
We’ve only got 24 hours to raise $10,000. This is a HUGE risk, we’re asking people to join us and to help us do this so we can spend time making and touring our work. There is still so much to do. We have a strong record of putting on sold-out, critically acclaimed work and we want to keep doing it. We believe art can change the world. But we need help reminding each other how much artmaking and experiencing art is transformative. Art is at risk. We are at risk. It’s a short window and if we don’t make it, we won’t be able to create new large-scale productions or tour those that are ready. Will you help?Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
