COLOR ME, WARHOL is the latest installment of an ongoing series jump-started by Raja Feather Kelly’s interest in Andy Warhol, pop culture, and identity.
WORLD PREMIERE: Fridays and Saturdays
April 10-11, 17-18, 24-25 @ 7pm Dixon Place
In the previous works inspired by the late American pop icon, Kelly (with support of his ensemble THE FEATH3R THEORY) has successfully carved out a niche for himself as an artist obsessed with seeing the world through a Warholian lens and “regurgitating” it into what he calls “Artsploitations.”
His new work is surreal and radical dance-theater, plundering the illusions of today’s popular culture, the impending social media war, and that imaginary line separating performers and audience.
Co-directed by filmmaker Lou Snow, COLOR ME, WARHOL completes Andy Warhol’s vision of Richard Attenborough & Michael Bennet’s 1985 movie-musical classic A CHORUS LINE.
This performance is am immersive experience for the audience and presents new practices and integrations in modern dance/postmodern dance/theater.
The production team has over 20 individuals working to make this come alive.
WATCH OUR TRAILER!
We need your help to bring to life a vision from 1987 to 2015 started by one the worlds most leading figures in Art, Andy Warhol. With your help we can produce the show in its best form > inside the set of an imagined Warhol canvas.
With your support we can fully produce a one of a kind performance and compensate the art-team that will make it happen. These monies will go toward Make-up, Costumes, Lighting Equipment, Projections, and most importantly Artist Fees.
We're using Kickstarter to get us closer to an over all budget of $20,000.
Risks and challenges
It's a one of a kind piece.
It will not happen if it's not funded.
We are not backed by a huge company with big donors.
This is NEW exciting work needs to be funded!
The largest risk we face is producing a show in a way that was less than intended. the feath3r theory is dedicated to creating work that is top-of-the-line and fulfilled beyond potential. We’re vessels for a work that is larger than us. We want to perform and we want to give the audience an experience but to do that we need to go further outside of what we know AND WHAT WE CAN AFFORD- we reach for the stars and hope that a universe will realize. We simply cannot do this project without the support of people who love art, who want to see the evolution of the field and the coming together of people, culture, ideology and entertainment.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
