Fearlight Games is bringing you two new collections of cases and adventures!
We have a new collection of cases for use with Baker Street: Roleplaying in the World of Sherlock Holmes. Our investigators find themselves dealing with unusual circumstances and locales out of the ordinary in Strange Cases & Distant Places. This is the third casebook for Baker Street. We also have a new release for Hood: Swashbuckling Adventures in Sherwood. Adventures Beyond the Forest is our first collection of adventures for Hood and it has our Merry Men setting off on a series of swashbuckling adventures!
If you aren't familiar with either of the games, scroll on down to the appropriate About the Game section for a brief introduction to the system, or check out the original campaigns here:
Casebook #3: Strange Cases & Distant Places
In Casebook #3, the investigators find themselves dealing with unusual circumstances and locales out of the ordinary. Written by some of our favorite Baker Street authors, this new collection of cases includes:
The Spectral Hound, by Bryce Whitacre
Sir Charles Baskerville dies a mysterious death upon the Moors. Locals tell of a hound of hell that has plagued the Baskerville line for generations. Investigators are employed to keep the new lord of Baskerville Hall, Sir Henry, safe from the hound of hell. Is it supernatural forces at work, or something far more sinister? Adapted from the famed Sherlock Story, The Hound of the Baskervilles.
Cyanide and Faded Petticoats, by Aaron Lopez
Something is amiss in Southampton. Over the past several months many residents of Harper’s Workhouse have gone missing without a trace. At first, Mr. Harper gave no thought to it at all until two of his longest termed residents, Mr. Collingwood and Mr. Edwards were suddenly numbered among the missing. Are the missing just moving on as the local constabulary think, or is there something much deadlier happening in Southampton?
Murder on the Flying Scotsman, by Bryce Whitacre
Weary Investigators traveling home enjoy an overnight trip aboard the famous Flying Scotsman, a train traveling from Edinburgh to London. When one of the passengers turns up dead it’s up to the investigators to unravel the truth before the end of the line. That truth becomes ever so more dangerous for investigators as it forever changes the World of Sherlock Holmes!
Hood: Adventures Beyond the Forest
This is our first collection of adventures for Hood: Swashbuckling Adventures in Sherwood. Our Merry Men are embarking on new escapades with a whole new series of swashbuckling adventures created by some new writers and also with some of our favorite Baker Street Authors. This new collection of adventures includes:
The Curse of the Danes, by Clint Staples
The rains have been especially heavy this year. Crops molder in flooded fields and tempers are short, igniting brawls and old family feuds. One such dispute arises when the ancient grave mound of a Danish chieftain washes open, spilling its contents onto the road. The remains must be reburied and a local noble wants them interred in the local graveyard. A furor erupts when the Vicar refuses to conduct a Christian burial of heathen remains. But the debate is forgotten amid tales of ghastly pagan warriors roaming the land and challenging the living. Can the Merry Men rescue Repton from an ancient doom? Or is something else going on entirely?
The Haunted Mill, by Jonathan M. Thompson
Tom, the Miller, is having some trouble with the little people. They are killing his cats, destroying his grain and otherwise making a mess of things. Sir William has offered to buy the mill, maybe the denizens of Sherwood can aid Tom before it's too late.
The Haunting of Hadleigh, by Derek Brewer
Far from Sherwood forest, men loyal to the Sheriff close in on buried Viking treasure. It is up to the shades of the Viking warriors to send the Sheriff’s men packing empty-handed and save the village.
Sherlock Holmes is Missing and Presumed Dead! Intrepid investigators are asked by the stoic Dr. Watson to take cases out of Baker Street in Holmes’s absence. Victorian streets, foggy nights, and crime most foul await. Will the nefarious plans of crafty villains come to fruition or can the champions of justice from Baker Street save the day? Baker Street is a Role Playing Game in which the players attempt to solve some of the most baffling crimes in history.
Baker Street: Roleplaying in the World of Sherlock Holmes features:
- An Icon Die that features Sherlock, Dr. Watson, and Professor Moriarty.
- A robust investigation mechanic.
- Simple character creation.
- A Threat Meter that the Mastermind uses to control the pace of the investigation.
Baker Street is a modified d6 system, where investigators are rolling d6s equal to their Skill level, but they always add an Icon Die to the roll. The Icon Die allows the iconic characters of Baker Street to indirectly influence the game.
Investigating a scene is the driving engine of this game. The trick is to get enough clues fast enough so that the criminals don't have enough time to get away or further their plans. Played in a series of rounds, Investigation Scenes have investigators making Observation, Reason, and Deduction Skill Rolls to uncover clues, weed out false clues, and uncover possible leads to help them in their investigation.
Hood: Swashbuckling Adventures in Sherwood features:
- A Swashbuckling Stunt system where you name each and every one of your attacks, defenses, and actions!
- A Story Pool system that works skills, professions, virtues, vices, traits, equipment, and stunts into each and every roll.
- An Icon Die that features Robin, Marian, and the Sheriff of Nottingham.
- Pluck and Swashbuckling Momentum rules to perform feats of Derring Do!
In Hood, you take dice from different categories, building a story pool to define your actions.
1. Pick one die from your skills or professions, whichever skill or profession you plan on using.
2. Take one die from either your physical traits or your personality traits.
3. Pick a virtue or vice that’s affecting this roll and pick out that die.
4. Define your actual stunt. If your stunt is already listed use the two dice associated with that stunt. If this is a brand new stunt, pick up 2d4.
5. If you are using a tool or item with your skill, take the appropriate die for that.
Pick up an Icon Die and roll everything. Any dice that come up as 4s or higher are successes. Any rolled 1s, 2s, and 3s are failures. Count the number of successes and compare that number against the difficulty assigned by the Scribe or the opposed roll of the target

Risks and challenges
We have funded and delivered on three successful Kickstarters so far and continue to improve our communication and delivery. We've experienced some setbacks and have always worked through them, but we expect that Strange Cases and Beyond the Forest will complete without any issues at all. We're already working on the editing of much of the material, looking at early layouts, and we'll be fulfilling books through DriveThruRPG.
We do know that with any project there can be challenges. As always, we are resolved to working through any problems that arise with our backers and are committed to providing everyone with the best solution possible.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
