Waves is a social device. Yes, you can sit there and watch it, and it will make you happy. But you can control the experience as a user or contributor.
This is a new category in social networking. We call it social crafting. Waves enables this. People participate, they mix the designs and creativity together. Waves is a connected physical box that sits on someone’s desktop or wall or wherever. The work people do in craft is part of the social sharing they do everyday. Craft becomes an extension of their social media and networking.
Waves is a Bluetooth speaker inside a chic box that sits nicely on your desk or furniture, or mounts to a wall as a floating shelf. Diffusion filters sit on top of the beautifully colored and animating lights. Use an ordinary pair of scissors to cut the diffusion filters into any shape you like - unleashing your creativity. Point-and-click easy Web-based show authoring on your smartphone, tablet, or browser lets you pair light and music to the filters. An on-line community is for sharing shows that play on your Waves. The result is cool, fun, calming, and a completely unique and meaningful gift.
The provisional patent pending technology that powers Waves is extrodinary. It enables deployment of home automation, entertainment on a Jumbotron level, and Waves tech is the missing ingredient for the Internet of Things (IoT). Waves will only grow more beautiful and more beneficial as it ages, just like the iPod grew up to be the iPhone.
Our vision is to unlock the artistic potential of everyone and share a calming and fun desktop light and sound show gadget. The diffusion filters are easily cut using an ordinary pair of scissors. Express anything in your imagination with these filters.
You like pirates? Make a pirate.
You like fairies? Make a fairy.
You like mermaids? Make a mermaid!
Let your creativity run wild. Then give your design - and a Wave - to your friends, family, children, and co-workers. Waves makes the most unusual and unique gift. Make a mistake? No worries. Replacement filters are inexpensive and available.
Community members - yourself included - may sell filter designs and shows to other members. Ron and Casi Berry designed the Pirate, Mermaid, and Fairy filter sets. You will find many more in the Waves on-line community.
Open the box, plug it in, instant light and sound shows. Have a second Wave? They talk to one another without wires to make shows even more interesting.
Hang It, Place It. Waves naturally float as mounted shelves for the walls of your home. They sit perfectly on your desk.
Choose or Make Your Show. Tune in your iPhone, Android, or Web browser to control Waves and find a community of Wave users, shows, and ideas to share.
Select a line-up of shows and Waves does everything else for you. The basic show authoring is point-and-click easy. Use your iPhone, Android, or Web browser choose a show. Give someone a Wave and help them choose shows from your browser.
When you make a show, share it with others in the Waves on-line community. There is even a way to earn a royalty for others playing your shows.
The last thing any of us need is more notifications when stuff on our social networks happens. Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram, YouTube, and FourSquare all demand your attention. We much prefer the Waves way of notifications: They are calming and gentle.
Waves connections to these social sites mean the light and sound shows change depending on what is happening in your social media life. Have a hard day at the office, Waves greets you with a soothing show.
We added Waves to a friends recent wedding. One Wave on each of 50 tables at the reception. Waves distributed the reception music to all the tables. Waves lights shimmered to form an animated red rose announcing the Bride and Groom’s arrival. Lights followed as they moved from table to table. And since there is a speaker in each Wave, all the Waves together was the sound system for the reception.
Waves is kind of like the original Apple iPod. Waves is an entirely new computing platform. Waves already built an on-line community to develop and share shows, computer networks to transport content to your Waves, Bluetooth speaker, and radio networks to coordinate animation between multiple Waves. Waves will only grow more beautiful and more beneficial as it ages, just like the iPod grew up to be the iPhone.
Inside Waves is a completely open and programmable environment. If you have a student, child, or colleague you want to introduce to the world of technology, Waves is an excellent decision. It is the coolest new Internet of Things tech.
Waves is supported by the Arduino Pinoccio global tech movement. Waves is an Internet Cloud-based connected open platform with a distributed operating system, storage and transformation, and audio and visual display tech. Waves innovated the first use of Processing.org sketch animation objects to drive distributed light and sound shows. It’s intended for anyone making interactive projects.
New show content, effects, and functions come from the connected on-line community. Waves on-line community is for creating new shows for your Waves, sharing the shows with other community members, and even earning money by selling your shows to other community members.
Inside each Wave is a high quality speaker with Bluetooth network. It's easy to play your music on Waves.
Waves integrates the Processing.org language to define light shows and animation. Waves is an incredible merging of an artist's language with a distributed environment to run shows.
The team has been working on Waves for the past year. You can expect regular updates from us. If there is good news we'll tell you; if we are having tough times we will also let you know. And there will be several times where you will be invited to participate in the community. For example, to help design the look of the enclosure, choose the initial light and sound shows, and help determine which features to build next.
We really hope you back us and look forward to sending you beautiful, calming, and soothing Waves.
We have been working for the past 9 months with our partners, designers, and engineers to mitigate as many risks as possible, yet we know there will still be hurdles along the way. We will always be transparent with you about challenges, including these:
Ship date: There is always a chance that things will take longer than planned. Several parts (software, connectivity app, and fulfillment systems) need to be completed on time.
Product changes: As we refine the software and shows based on additional community feedback and more product testing, we may make changes. Of course, these changes will only be made to enhance the product experience.
Supplier coordination: We work with a supply chain management company to source the best materials and ensure the product is manufactured correctly. Each supplier has its own challenges, which may affect its partners, including us.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
