Historical Conquest: The Journey Through Time is an epic card game where players can create personalized societies with key players from history and battle them against one another; anyone, anywhere, anytime.
Each card is complete with: fantastic illustrations of people, places, events in history; abilities in the game according to the abilities they had in real life; and a full summary of their actual history.
When has learning been more enjoyable!? Eric the Red can help the Mongul Army conquer Argentina during the Black Plaque. Albert Einstein can live peacefully in Japan under the leadership of Abraham Lincoln during World War I. The possibilities are endless, as is the fun!
Historical Conquest has no boards or stands, and is played with standard size cards. Each player has his or her own starter deck, added on or customized by buying additional booster packs.
You start with a single country to base your civilization and expand to others as the battle grows. As your civilization expands you will place new characters to defend, lead, and excite each land. During attacks these characters will band together to defend these countries. When it is your turn you will choose your ultimate goal, 1) world domination, or 2) peace and prosperity for you people.
Every story has a beginning, a middle, and an end:
BEGINNING: I started this game in college as an assignment to change the world. Ended up hiring three spectacular aspiring artists and helped pay their tuition. In return they provided me with 250 illustrations of historical figures, events, places, etc. With the help of my wife we designed 150 cards as part of this historic game, leaving 100 illustrations ready and waiting to be published. When I ran out of time to sell the packs individually, I decided to make a name for it and so wrote an epic novel.
MIDDLE: Now I have finished the book. When I told a group of teenagers about the game they badgered me until they could play. Now we are constantly having mini-tournaments, some have even replaced their old card games with Historical Conquest.
NOW: I have come to Kickstarter for help raise funds in order of coming out with the 2nd edition HC set. In this new edition we will:
1) Remove a few errors,
2) Use a little better design, with the help of a youth gamer focus group,
3) And introduce another 100-plus characters, events, and places
END: Funding is not the end, but the beginning. There are thousands of historical figures, events, technology, and places to choose from and we intend to scribe the best ones in an attempt to archive them all.
To create a name for anything, you either have to do something so big that it goes beyond a quick 15 minutes of fame or you have to design something that no one can ignore. I decided to write a book based on the card game.
This is the story of a young man travelling to another realm to help a primitive group of people save their world with the help of historical figures like Fredrick Douglas, Andrew Carnegie, Miyomoto Musashi, and many others. It takes the innovations of the past to save these people from certain destruction. It is quite the adventure that I believe is well worth exploring.
GAMERS: This adventure is perfect for any gamer, of any age. Give it a chance, you will have a hard time putting it down. The entertainment factor is over the top. If you like Risk, Magic: The Gathering, Pokemon, or Yu-Gi-Oh then you will like this, for it is a mixture of the bests of each.
PARENTS/TEACHERS: Have you desired a game you could play with your kids, one they could learn and have fun at the same time? These cards don’t just introduce historical characters but geography, math, philosophy, strategy, and so much more, they create an excitement to fill any gamer.
We have tested the cards thoroughly and everyone from 7-year-olds to college students and even parents and grandparents loved this game. We have held successful tournaments with college students, youth under the age of ten, and high school students. We are asking for your support to help finish this portion of the adventure and begin a new step in fusing education with entertainment.

IF WE REACH OUR GOAL OF $12,000:
Since this Kickstarter project focuses on the card game, your funds will be appropriated to the development of new cards, redesign of old cards, and promoting the game all over North America.
IF WE REACH $25,000:
We will fund a student, Alex, to further his knowledge and training in computer programming to create an app for this card game. This app’s main goal will be to calculate points, track your cards, and expand the history of each card.
IF WE REACH $50,000:
We will assemble a think tank made up of young gamers to redesign these cards for the 2nd edition as well as new games for the future, giving these young people valuable experience to help them in their future endeavors.
IF WE REACH $100,000:
We will develop a Historical Conquest video game based on the book. The game is in its planning stage and will be focus-grouped through the above-mentioned youth think tank.

Risks and challenges
As stated in my presentation, the creation of a product may be the easiest part of the entire project. The real challenge comes after its creation. One of the main reasons it has taken me so many years to finish the Historical Conquest project is the focus I've been giving to its accompanying book. Now that I have finally finished writing the Historical Conquest novel, I hope the game will gain name recognition and funding. With the funding I hope to gather with Kickstarter I will be able to promote the game nation wide, hold tournaments, and produce more cards to expand the players' enjoyment and learning.
