What we do...
We are both fashion lecturers based in Glasgow. We teach all aspects of the fashion industry including pattern cutting, industrial sewing machine skills, commercial design and fashion business enterprise. We see many students graduate in Scotland with limited job opportunities, meaning they have to move away from Scotland in order to find work within the industry. Then there are the students who graduate, keen to stay in Scotland and set up in business- whether that be bespoke design or creating an independent fashion brand. We want to support these designers and brands that already fly the flag for Scottish design but also to encourage those with fashion industry skills to stay here and set up in business. We want to support enterprise in Scotland and we see Fashioned In Glasgow being the perfect support system.
The idea for the manufacturing facility goes hand in had with this, as there are many designers and brands- not just in Scotland but throughout the UK who are struggling to get their business to the next level of wholesale production and exporting worldwide. This is due to the downturn in the manufacturing industry in Britain as well as financial pressures from those manufacturers that remain wanting a minimum order of 500-1000 pieces, which is unrealistic for independent designers.
As mentioned in the video, we have already started producing wholesale orders for brands and it has made their product accessible to a worldwide market in wholesale quantities.
Along with the support for fashion independents we also want to support students by offering work placements within Fashioned In Glasgow. We have already been working with a student on the wholesale order produced for Isolated Heroes. We hope to employ skilled machinists, and pattern cutters as well as offer work experience within the factory and with the designers for fashion students throughout the country.

We would like to Thank You!!
We would both like to thank you all very much for watching the video, reading more about our plans and most of all for supporting the business. Your support not only means a lot to us, but also to all the creatives in the UK looking for support within the fashion sector. This funding will not only help this get up and running but will help the re-shoring of manufacturing to Scotland, help bring industry jobs to Glasgow, help to keep clothing manufactured in Britain and encourage enterprise in young people!!
