Hey, it's Anthony. I talked with Jeff tonight.
I could make a bunch of excuses here, about how my new job has kept me very busy and my car broke down and I've been sick, etc, etc, etc. But I won't. There's really no excuse for how late the game has gotten.
But I want you all to know that Jeff and I are fully committed to releasing this game, and we're going to prove it to you.
On Tuesday, July 5th, we will be releasing a new beta on PC, Mac and Linux. This beta should be almost completely bug-free...except for one that still eludes me, but we'll talk about that later.
On Friday, July 15th, we will be releasing the beta on iOS. If you wish to test this version you'll need to contact Jeff.
Jeff will also be re-creating the Fargoal forum on his site; it was down due to database corruption. He will be restoring all the posts that he can retrieve to the forum and then it'll be open for use again.
Please forgive our tardiness; we are both men with families and jobs, and we're doing the best we can.
In the meantime...here's why you shouldn't wander around the dungeon without a torch:
Okay, after a fair bit of work, you should now be able to go down stairs after saving and reloading. Also, the game should no longer crash or give a "This program terminated the run-time in a funky way" error on exit. Please redownload (the link below now points to the new version) and check it out!
I didn't mean to post the betas and then go dark. This last week has been very busy for me; I've had multiple job interviews and it looks like something might be happening on that front soon (and just in time).
The savegame corruption/runtime error on exit (they are the same bug) has been giving me fits; it's obviously some kind of library incompatibility but it doesn't occur on my computer (of course) so tracking it down has been difficult. But I believe I will have something within the next couple of days.
The next most important bug is the display being cut off at the bottom on certain resolutions. I'm pretty sure I know what is wrong there (the aspect ratio isn't being calculated correctly) and it should be an easy fix once I get to it.
I just want to thank everyone who has been helping me get these worked out! You're all awesome, and I hope to have a much better version of the game for you to play very soon.
