The Moon is Following Me is a hardcover picture book about a little boy's humorous attempts to convince his family that the moon is following him every night. Known to be a bit worrisome and over-imaginative, each family member laughs and dismisses his theories as make-believe. The catch? This time, he's right.
The Golden Age of comic books and animation (1920-1960s) is my favorite era. While most of today’s popular cartoons and comic books are digital perfection, the imperfections made in their Golden Age counterparts made them special. As a tribute to that era, I've illustrated and designed The Moon is Following Me in a style that complements their brilliant imperfections .

1. Childhood only lasts for a small fraction of our lives, yet we rush children to grow up as if childhood is a disease that cures with age. From the moment they are born, children are bombarded with rules, guidelines and unspoken societal laws all geared toward making them adults. I just want to remind them to enjoy their childhood.
2. Where The Wild Things Are, Cat in the Hat, Stuck, The Giving Tree, Peter Pan, Wizard of Oz, Alice in Wonderland, Charlie and The Chocolate Factory, James and the Giant Peach, and Clifford are classic imaginative stories that just-so-happen-to feature human characters of the same hue. Those books molded my imagination and influenced the love and passion I have for literature. As an author, illustrator and publisher, I’m excited to release an imaginative story in the same tone with a human character who looks like my son.

The goal of this Kickstarter campaign is to print a 'preview run' of The Moon is Following Me before its May 2020 release. A preview run allows me to send early copies of the book to retailers for consideration, go on an early press run in select schools, and send the book to reviewers and online influencers to help with marketing. With Kickstarter I can share my bookmaking process and send you all an early copy as well—months before its release.

Risks and challenges
Common challenges printing hardcover picture books are reprints from editing, printing, or binding mistakes, and the fluctuation of costs on print, production, storage, and shipping. “The Moon is Following Me” will be my fifth book published independently. Aside from my obsession with quality and delivering on my promise, I have built solid relationships with all parties needed to produce and deliver an amazing book while avoiding challenges.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
