Please note that this is only an early stage in the development! Many other features have to come and it may undergo more changes as we progress through development!
As you binge watch your favorite TV shows as usual, like "Breaking Bad" & "Stranger Things", you unexpectedly discover the existence of a parallel fictional dimension called Landflix through the use of nuclear batteries and a normal remote controller. Landflix is a clear reference to video-on-demand platforms like Netflix and TV shows universe.
Now you are Larry, stuck in this fictional world.
As he sets foot in Landflix’s home he meets Uncle Doc, a scientific genius who had recently disappeared in that fictional word too. Before he can understand what’s going on, a small robot appears. It has a small screen on its body that displays an old man’s face. It’s Landflix’s evil CEO, who sent its minion after him to steal the nuclear batteries in an attempt to escape Landflix and conquer the world with its army of fictional characters. As Larry fights over possession of the remote, 5 of the 6 batteries fly out of the remote and end up in different TV shows, and the robot retreats. Finally he understands what’s happening.
Apparently the CEO and his uncle were coworkers once, but Uncle Doc had imprisoned him in this parallel dimension, as soon as he realized his black soul. Indeed, the CEO was using this dimension to create Landflix, a system designed to decrease the cerebral capacity of the masses through its TV shows, and easily conquer the world. Now that also Larry is stuck inside there, their only option (and the only way out) is to stop the evil CEO and get back all 6 batteries!

In Landflix’s Home menu you can scroll between TV shows and select which one you’d like to watch... ehm, play.
The first show you have to travel through is called the other side and has a horror-themed feel, as you travel through forests, schools and labs. In this stealth based world, you’ll have to use your skill to travel between parallel worlds to find your way against trained soldiers and dimensional monsters.
The second show is set in an icy world dominated by an evil queen and the army of the undead. The perfect fantasy setting! In this metroid-vania like world you’ll have to fight your way through an undead horde, explore castles and ride a dragon to reach and defeat the evil queen.
We couldn’t avoid putting a superhero based world in our line-up! So here it is: a corrupted city packed with criminals and a lot of action! You’ll have to fight both gangsters and ninjas as you use your new magnetic powers to move stuff around and grapple-hook yourself out of harm’s way.
You got caught in the middle of a war for control over drugs in your favorite Fast Food chain. Do everything you can to survive in this chaotic world by using your own drug as a power-up, all while you confront both the Mexican cartel and the Fast Food gang.
Zombie horde? Check. A weapon to fight it back? Check. Explore this ”Metal Slug” like world as you use your crossbow and its many kind of arrows to reach the CEO’s base and have your final confrontation with him!
Every TV show will feature its own familiar character, who'll be in need of your help. You'll need to fight a mad scientist, mobsters, en evil queen, the deranged fast food employees and zombie hordes to saving them! In return they will teach you how to control your new powers and will guide you through your adventure.
Since the early stages of game design we had a clear idea in mind.
We wanted to produce a platformer where the player could make use of various powers to progress through levels, and go back to previously completed ones to get to secret areas thanks to his new powers.
Each of these powers had to be upgradable to reach even more secret areas. We decided to give our main character one signature move, and a new power at the start of each TV show, based on the world’s lore itself.
This move is available to Larry every time he finds and consumes a beer. The burp will release a powerful shockwave, capable of stunning or even damaging enemies, and will be key to solving some puzzles.
In “Peculiar Stuff” the given power is a dimensional switch. Through the use of his remote near certain antennae, Larry is capable of traveling from the normal world to a parallel version of it. Not only will the landscape change significantly, but enemies will too. But be careful when using this power! The parallel world has no oxygen in it, so you’ll need to reach a new antenna quickly!
To fight hordes of the undead in the “Elder Thrones” world, Larry obviously needs a sword. But this is not a normal sword, it has magical petrifying properties, which allow Larry to turn himself into a statue for a brief moment to both avoid taking damage and conceal himself from enemy eyes. The other sword power is called Rock Slam and it allows to destroy things.
In “Blind Evil” we wanted to give Larry a marvelous ability. The green belt is a mash up of magnetic powers and spectacular visuals. The green ray that comes out of Larry’s belt can manipulate objects within a certain range, and even work as a hook to help him reach previously unreachable areas.
In the “Going Mad” world, Larry will learn how to produce Blue Sky meth. This meth will temporarily increase Larry’s speed and reflexes, making the world around him slow down. Sadly such a strong effect can’t last more than a few seconds.
Fighting the horde of zombies from “The Standing Zombies” requires Larry to get his hands on some kind of ranged weapon. This crossbow doesn’t only fit that role, but can also be equipped with many type of arrows, such as flaming and freezing ones.

Daniele Bianchini - For over six years I’ve been dealing with videogames. I created and published a lot of mobile games, but my dream has always been to develop a videogame for consoles, like PlayStation or Xbox. I love platform games and old school pixel-art adventures. I was thirteen when "The Secret of Monkey Island" was published!
Andrea Valesini - Arts lover and couch addicted, I’m also into horror movies and a binge watcher of TV shows. Grown up beating nonstop on the keys of my loyal 286, I draw things and make people laugh.
Federico Pauzano - I grew up with videogames. It’s been a lifelong dream to publish a 2D old-school platformer. In my spare time I play around brewing my own beer, which I believe has the power to increase productivity.
Luca De Simone - Nintendo lover and game developer. I’ve been playing with videogames forever and still keep living and breathing videogames. Can't live without my amiibo collection. Tea and water Manager of the Studio.
We decided to found Fantastico Studio as soon as we started the development of Landflix Odyssey, our first videogame for PC and consoles, in September 2017. We're working to make this project a reality and our dream come true. But this will be possible only thanks to all of you!
This Kickstarter campaign is aimed to gather the funds necessary to cover the costs of art, sounds design, testing and to publish the game on consoles (Playstation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch).
We've already invested our own time-money to cover around 75% of the development costs to bring Landflix Odyssey on Steam. We need extra funds both to publishing the game on consoles and to expand it further. This is just the beginning! By reaching the main goal (and hopefully more stretch goals) we're aiming to a lot more for the development of Landflix Odyssey, from a more curated and detailed graphic design to a better overall gaming experience.
Risks and challenges
”Do you have previous experience in developing videogames?”
All of our team members have previous experience in the videogame development field, working on mobile games.
This will be our first console project but, as the team core has been working together for quite a while now, we are confident (if not certain) in our abilities to bring this game to life!
”What if the project fails and the game never gets released?”
Personally we don’t think this is a possibility, but we can understand a backer’s worry about the chance of losing his/her investment.
We have already decided on the number of levels and mechanics the game will have and don’t plan to add any, thereby excessively continuing the development of the game, unless we reach a large sum which will guarantee us the possibility to do it.
At most, the mechanics can be remodeled, but we decided to keep things simple and tied to our initial view to avoid derailing in an endless project.
And if for any reason the project gets cancelled, we will still put all the game features that have already been developed together and make a playable game for our backers.
